I got an opportunity to present my thoughts to the Prime Minister of India. Yet, I couldn't utilise the opportunity. Imagine getting selected for something as prestigious as this after four gruelling rounds of eliminating process. 1) The first round was an online quiz. I appeared for it during my endsems. 2) The second round required to submit an essay. I chose the theme " Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi" among the given themes. 3) The third round was the State Championship at Shantiniketan, West Bengal. I prepared a PPT and presented my innovative ideas on the same theme. 4) After that round, those of us who were selected were directed to be interviewed with a ma'am from the PM secretariat. Finally received an email a few days back, confirming my selection! However, I had to let this amazing chance and all my efforts of the last four rounds go to waste. This is because: 1) Lack of proper communication and mismanagement by the organizers. Even the state level championship was an utter fiasco and even today those of us selected haven't even gotten our teams or tickets ( the event is scheduled from 10th January), atleast in West Bengal. 2) Since my college is in Karnataka, I requested for travel arrangements to be made for me from Karnataka, but they straightway wrote in the official group that I had denied to participate further. 3) In order to travel from West Bengal with the rest of the participants to Delhi, I'd have to miss two weeks of classes and it would imply that I'd have to live for the rest of the semester with a mortal fear of attendance shortage. And thus ends my journey of hoping to attend the Vikshit Bharat Young Leaders' Dialogue 2025 in Delhi. In a strange twist of irony, I remember the final question that the interviewer had asked before my selection was : What would you tell the honorable PM if you get to meet him? " To focus on flexibility in order to ensure efficiency " - had been my answer. Unfortunately the lack of flexibility and efficiency of the system compelled me to choose to forego this golden opportunity. Perhaps another year..... Ps: I do not intend to disrespect anyone or any organization and really consider myself lucky to be given the chance . Just shared my honest experience.
