Eltwin Group’s Reflection on Days at #Electronica with Supply Partners Thanks to all our supply partners for sharing your insights on new technology, regulations, and readiness to comply with #CBAM, #HFC, and new building directives, as well as your perspectives on geopolitical tensions and their potential impact on the electronic supply chain and the general market outlook. My key takeaway from our many meetings is that the #electronics market is growing, albeit at a slower rate. However, areas like #AI and power electronics (#SiC) are seeing rapid growth. While there is still significant destocking, an underlying supply-demand balance exists. Nevertheless, forward demand remains uncertain due to geopolitical factors that could quickly fuel or shift demands. This uncertainty makes me more cautious and reinforces the strategic approach Eltwin has adopted—fostering stronger partnerships with suppliers and customers through greater transparency and more frequent dialogue. This enables us to leverage expertise and build a more resilient supply chain that can swiftly anticipate and respond to potential disruptions. Awareness and compliance with new regulations are progressing well, which is reassuring compared to last year. I am confident that our partners will provide the data and solutions needed to meet upcoming compliance requirements for #CBAM, #HFC, and new building directives on time. We will continue monitoring market conditions closely to determine whether we are on the brink of a boom that could lead to restricted availability and longer lead times, or if we will maintain more stable market conditions. Our recommendation remains to be cautious, transparent, agile, and flexible. The past years have seen record growth in 2022 and 2023, followed by a significant drop in volume and destocking in 2024, causing disruptions for Eltwin and our partners. Our outlook for 2025 is more conservative, yet optimistic. Let’s collaborate for a greener, better tomorrow. #HVAC #heatpumps #Sustainability #SupplyChain #EnergyEfficiency #GreenTech #Regulations #Resilience #Partnerships 4o

Last week I had been at electronicaFair and co-located Semicon Europa, where I visited several of our customers and partners, and especially our teams of Critical Manufacturing and ASMPT SEMI Solutions. · The trade fair was fully booked, and the number of visitors was immense. The aisles have been extremely busy and the exhibitors presented themselves with great commitment. · It is true, in many areas, the economy is not performing as we all would like it, and positive signals and support from politicians are urgently needed, but even if there are downturns, none of the exhibitors has buried their head in the sand, but impressively presented the industry´s innovative strength and demonstrated that digital technologies are the key to achieving a carbon neutral future, - and I particularly liked this. · In addition to sustainability, key topics such as artificial intelligence, the future of mobility, and the development of young talent sparked lively discussions at the exhibition · A spirit of optimism among exhibitors - and that also applied to ASMPT. · Not only at Electronica did we show innovative solutions: the coming year will be exciting. Our R&D teams in all segments are working on innovations that will bring clear added value to our customers worldwide. I am looking forward to exciting trade fairs in the new year. It's not for nothing that our ASMPT claim is enabling the digital world!!! ASMPT Ltd, ASMPT SEMI Solutions, ASMPT SMT Solutions, Critical Manufacturing

Here's an interesting analysis in TechNode.com magazine, from our Shanghai-based Head of Electronics Stewart Randall, of Semicon China which took place the other day. Stewart has been attending the #semiconductor expo for several years. And his report this year - from the largest show he's ever attended - paints a picture of a complex Chinese industry where a warm welcome for overseas tech firms jostled against 'buy Chinese' rhetoric from Beijing. Read Stewart's perspective on the event - and the trends in #China's chip sector that it highlighted - to find out why he concludes that, despite the inescapable challenges, "China remains the largest semiconductor market in the world and foreign firms need to find ways to tackle it." https://lnkd.in/g3wuxPbt

Like two years ago, I had the opportunity to head to Munich for #Electronica2024. Here are my 5 hot takes from the world's biggest trade fair in the Semiconductor and professional electronics industry: 1️⃣ 🗣️ Our industry makes noise and raises interest: With 80,000 visitors and 3,400 exhibitors, this edition set a new record, boasting a +12% and +40% increase compared to 2022, respectively. As usual, booths from big names in the electronic distribution sector competed fiercely with the most interactive and engaging stands, brimming with creative ideas—ranging from donut and ice-cream giveaways to e-sport competitions and unlimited Michelin-rated food throughout the day. 2️⃣ 🇨🇳 An impressive contingent from China: More than ever, Chinese companies had a significant impact on the number of exhibitors. Their presence was strongly felt in the exhibition halls - notably hall C6 - where they presented their latest innovations and strengthened their position on the world market...and above all their desire to flood the European market. 3️⃣ 🍃 Sustainability remains a buzzword but...: Sustainability is beginning to emerge as a major theme in the semiconductor and electronics industry. Companies are increasingly highlighting their green initiatives and eco-friendly products, reflecting the growing importance of environmental responsibility. Even if it's not the “green” aspect of the product that determines the act of purchase (at least not yet...). 4️⃣ 🏟️ Visitors and buyers play it conservative: Against the backdrop of the current crisis in the sector, and despite encouraging prospects for 2025, visitors were selective in their interactions, concentrating on targeted companies. 5️⃣ 🤖 The rise of AI and automation: This year, even more than in 2022, there has been a lot of talk and focus on artificial intelligence and automation. From intelligent manufacturing solutions to AI-based analytics, these technologies are set to revolutionize the industry, promising greater efficiency and innovation. 🎢 See you in two years to see how these topics have progressed! Have you visit #electronicaFair this year? Do you share the same impressions? I’m curious to hear your feedback in the comments… ⤵️

China chip industry event woos fewer exhibitors amid market headwinds, US export restrictions The 6th edition of the World Semiconductor Conference (WSC), drew more than 200 exhibitors from a wide range of chip-related applications such as artificial intelligence (AI), automotive, and electronic design automation (EDA) software, as well as global foundry leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), Huawei Technologies and Tencent Cloud. China's semiconductor sales dropped 14% year on year in 2023, the steepest decline of all markets in the world, according to the US-based Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). The current market situation is still uncertain, with the industry still facing challenges, according to speakers who addressed a forum on high-quality growth in the chip sector. TSMC, which has operated a foundry capable of making 16-nanometre grade logic chips in Nanjing since 2016, declined to participate in the forums or comment on the sidelines of the event amid geopolitical tensions across the Taiwan Strait. Only a few foreign firms are exhibiting at this year's show, including Samsung Electronics, British chip IP provider Arm, US engineering simulation software company Ansys, STMicroelectronics, and Ericsson China. Other local exhibitors included graphics processing unit start-up Biren Technologies and China's top flash memory chip maker Yangtze Memory Technologies. Amid an ongoing price war in China's carmaking sector, auto chip firms are feeling the heat. Xiao Zuonan, general manager at China Core, said that profit margins last year were under downward pressure due to pricing trends in the auto market. Xiao highlighted the predicament facing most small Chinese auto chip companies when it came to substituting foreign products. Beijing has reportedly told the country's carmakers to prioritise the use of home-made chips in their procurement, according to a Bloomberg report earlier this year. Most auto electronics applications do not require advanced chipmaking technologies, and are feasible with the mature 28-nm node. https://lnkd.in/eBjq9TsQ Personal addition 🤓: China's ecomony has problems. It seems the #semiconductor sanctions from the US, are really affecting the companies. But is this really theroot cause? The real estate market in China is completely down. Real estate accounts for around 25% of domestic economic output and almost 80% of household assets. If this market is down, masses of jobs are laid off and private pensions are at high risk. The high US interest rates fuel these issues. On one side, investments will move to US due to higher return, thus the RMB is getting weaker and on the other side China's debts are increasing as they are mainly made in USD. If this issue will not be managed, the economy cannot recover and the demand for consumables cannot be high. Just my two cents 🤔 #embedded #embeddedsystems #IIOT #industry40 #technology #semiconductor #electronics #NAND #DRAM #flashmemory
