Mark your calendars for October 2024 for Three-Fifths Magazine’s annual Season of Giving. The season of giving, also known as giving season or year-end giving, is a time of year when people focus on generosity and supporting those in need. It’s generally considered to take place from October to New Year’s Day, with the holiday season starting with Thanksgiving being when most people are in the spirit of giving. During this time, nonprofit organizations receive the most support from donors, both individuals and businesses. -Google Though we receive donations year-round, in consideration of not infringing upon your approaching holiday season, Three-Fifths Magazine has chosen the month of October for its annual season of giving. This provides an opportunity through financial donations of generosity toward this nonprofit magazine/organization to inform, reach, encourage, and mobilize for dismantling systemic racism in 2025.

This month's nonprofit Spotlight is Community Services Clearinghouse: I got to sit down with Aubry Severe and learn about the ways this organization can help, and also hear about the impact they've already made. Here's what we discussed: Q. What is one thing you want our community to know about this organization? A. There is an on-site food pantry for elders, disabled, and individuals going through medical treatments. Q. How many were you able to help in 2023? A. *They helped 400 families a month with the food pantry *71,898 kids from Aug. 2023-May 2024 through the Meals for Kids Backpack program *142 schools in 7 counties Q. What brought you to this organization? A. Aubry first came as a volunteer for the holiday program for a few years then applied to become a caseworker, and is now the Director of Operations Q. What big events do you have coming up in 2024? A. *True Grit Ride/Run is coming up soon on June 22. The ride starts at 7am, and run starts at 7:30am. You can sign up at csclearinghouse.org *Meals for Kids Backpack program picks back up in August Q. How can we help? A. Pantry donations are always needed especially in the summer. Businesses can help by hosting food drives.

Looking for ways to give back to your community? Here are a few….
I spent the last few days in Pennsylvania for a Marketing Strategy Meeting. Once again, I saw first-hand this credit union’s dedication to community outreach, as they’re currently managing three holiday charity projects: Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, and a donation drive for Arise Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County to assemble Christmas Eve Family Boxes. I gladly took a small donation to make sure a few kiddos at the shelter had some fun games for Christmas. What’s even more impactful is Branch Manager Lisa Magee's collaboration with Arise to offer financial education workshops. These sessions will empower women in the shelter, as well as those transitioning out, with the tools and knowledge they need to build financial independence. A big shoutout to GNC Community Federal Credit Union CEO Julia G. and her incredible team - Cheri Sabino, CCUFC, Lisa Magee and Renae Colaizzi - for their unwavering commitment to making a big difference in their community! #PeopleHelpingPeople #CreditUnionDifference #CreditUnions #CommunityOutreach
