Blocking is the effect when calendered PET sheet webs can no longer be separated from each other after winding. To prevent this, two common methods are in place: While masterbatch is directly injected into the melt at extrusion, anti-block liquids are applicated to the sheet surface. The production process of adhesive tape typically involves three main stages: blowing, coating, and packaging. In the blowing stage, raw materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene pellets are melted and extruded through a die to form a thin film. This film is then cooled and stretched to the desired thickness and width. Next, in the coating stage, the film is passed through a coating station where adhesive is applied to one side of the film. The adhesive may be solvent-based, hot melt, or water-based, depending on the specific requirements of the tape. Finally, in the packaging stage, the coated film is slit into smaller rolls of various widths and lengths. These rolls are then packaged according to customer specifications, typically in cardboard boxes or shrink-wrapped bundles, and prepared for distribution to customers. A color/material change from blue PC/ABS to transparent PC is problematic due to the possible "milky shadow" (a typical defect on transparent pieces after purging).
