Is a 4 day working week coming to the recruitment sector? I read this week that a further 1,000 employees at 17 employers are taking part in the 4 day week campaign. In 2022, 56 out of the 61 businesses that trialled it, opted to carry on. In fact over the various trials, 200 UK businesses have moved to this permanently. Employees report a better work-life balance and less stress and fatigue and the vast majority of companies reported no hit to performance. According to a survey by Owl Labs last summer, 6% of those full-time workers surveyed were on a 4 day week. If this survey is representative of the overall employment landscape in the UK, it would suggest that 1.5 million employees in the UK workforce are on 4 day working week (I personally don't think they are though). So does a 4 day week have a place in the recruitment sector though? Can we even do our jobs effectively over fewer days?
