🚨Pro Tip🚨 Speed can kill in media relations. As media relations practitioners, we're tempted to pitch as soon as a story breaks or trends and may tie into a client that we're working on or organization that we work for. But, before pitching, it's important to take a step a back and ask whether securing a piece of media coverage for my source on this topic will actually benefit my source. Ask yourself questions like: Does this story present an opportunity for my source to comment on a topic that he or she really shouldn't be commenting on? Can my source actually provide comment of value to reporters, or is this a stretch? Will my target audience actually be excited to see my source talking about this topic? No one wants analysis paralysis. But slowing down for at least a quick evaluation is worth the wait. #publicrelations
