Happy Tuesday! We're going to do this week a bit different. I did not post a mental health Monday episode yesterday because I was brainstorming about this video I'm posting today. CALLING ALL PRO DRIVERS, FLEET SAFETY, DISPATCHERS ETC, You're opinion on the subject of learning based approaches in trucking is valued. What are your thoughts about having an office staff member complete a ride along or ride alongs with pro drivers to understand work as done to be able to provide the support needed for physical health and psychological safety/mental health well-being? Let me know in the comments, or DM me. I am here to promote well- being for pro drivers and improve their quality of life in their professions! They are the HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA!! As always stay safe and I'll see you on the highway, cheers! #fleetsafety #logistics #trucking #learningbasedsafety #giveprodriversavoice #prodriverlivesmatter #risingphxsafety #mentalhealthforprodrivers #wellbeing

Happy Monday Drivers! Today is the start to our new chapter of videos for the driver series: Mental Health Monday 🧠🛣️ Every week we will discuss mental health awareness topics for professional drivers including psychological safety, physical and mental wellness, and more! To kick the chapter off, we are discussing COMMUNICATION, crucial for psychological safety in the industry! That's right.. I'm looking at you dispatchers and field ops, be sure to provide support and understanding for drivers, if a driver tells you they need a break or there is an adverse condition on the road and there will be delays LISTEN, they are in the field on the highway, not an OFFICE. Remember, putting into account what your field staff conveys shows that you CARE and RESPECT them as people not just numbers! Pro Driver Lives Matter 🛣️🚦💪🧠 Happy Monday! Wishing everyone a great start to their week! As always.. STAY SAFE AND ILL SEE YOU ON THE HIGHWAY, CHEERS! 🫡🛣️🧠💪 #mentalhealthawareness #driverseries #prodriver #psychologicalsafety #care #respect #logistics #highway #dispatch #fieldops #safetyculture

Transportation and warehousing top the list of occupations among men when it comes to the costs related to traumatic events such as being involved in a road crash or witnessing a serious work accident. In the trucking industry, a perception of masculinity often leads to silence after such events, impacting road safety. Reflecting on my experience as a former fleet manager, accident training focused on data analysis, driver education, and compliance. It's crucial to consider mental health support post-accident. It's normal to be affected by traumatic incidents, emphasizing the need for industry-wide mental health investment. #Transportation #Warehousing #MentalHealthAwareness #TruckDrivers #RoadSafety

Suspicious or otherwise – John Barnett’s death represents a sacrifice. Speaking up about wrong-doing takes courage and comes at a huge cost. Research has found that: Whistleblowing comes at a huge cost for your mental health. · 70% whistleblowers report experiencing stress related physical problems after speaking up · 85% whistleblowers suffer a range of mental health symptoms including severe anxiety, depression, paranoia, agoraphobia and/or sleep issues. Some even feel suicidal. Why is this? In the work I've done supporting those who've spoken up, the following factors crop up time and time again: · No-one can prepare you for being a whistleblower or for the aftermath · Employees may be compelled to act to defend themselves or in other situations to avoid moral injury · Typically, people attempt to resolve concerns via in-house processes first · Regulators fail to act appropriately · Those speaking up experience Institutional betrayal · There are huge personal costs not only to self but family and loved ones which can amplify the pain · People face recrimination for speaking up (including violence in some cases) · The effects can be life-changing and enduring When speaking up about wrong doing for the good of society, whistleblowers also face · Strong feelings of guilt for going externally · Incurring moral injury when their actions don’t prevent the wrong-doing Mr Barnett had worked for Boeing for 32 years. I can only imagine how frightening and painful he must have found it to speak up. With so much visibility. And how devastating it must feel for his loved ones. I hope he is at peace. #whistleblowing #truthtelling #boeing https://lnkd.in/eMsD_qjE

Anger management - how to prevent road rage - Safety Moments !!!☝️⚡💥 DON HSE INBOX CORNER ♥ LEARN, REVIEW & REFRESH!!! ⛑ SAFETY & HEALTH FIRST!!! 👷♀️👷♂️ #abbppsg #donsapiti Courtesy credit to the Photo/Video Owner !!!🥇 Safety First !!! 💯 A long traffic jam on a busy street For something that seems so familiar, it's surprising to learn that road rage doesn't really have any 'official' status. There's no specific offence known as road rage, the government doesn't include road rage in its annual road traffic reports, and the term doesn't appear in The Highway Code. This is probably because many road rage incidents are minor and those that develop into something more serious – like assault – are criminal offences anyway. However, we still have to deal with aggressive drivers – not to mention our own potential to get a bit snippy. So what are the things that annoy us the most on the road? Why are they happening? And how can you avoid being a rude driver or making things worse if you encounter one? What are the causes of road rage? Given that it's a catchall term for a wide range of behaviours, you'd struggle to find one particular root cause of road rage. Most incidents could probably be boiled down to two elements, though - a bad decision or mistake coupled with a bad response. Someone does something stupid and you overreact, you do something stupid and they overreact and so on. So which stupid things are most likely to spark a road rage incident? Well, we polled more than 18,000 of our Members to discover which behaviours they found most irritating in other drivers. The number one irritation was tailgating, with 26% of our Members expressing their frustration at people who drive too close. The full results were as follows: Tailgating (26%) Talking on a mobile (25%) Middle lane hogging (23%) Swooping - i.e. moving across several lanes at the last second to take a motorway exit (10%) Overtaking on the inside (7%) Driving slowly (3%), speeding (3%), littering (3%) You may have noticed that some of these behaviours are more than just infuriating, they're traffic offences. So is the Highway Code being enforced effectively? Would more traffic police help deal with some causes of road rage? Another recent poll of our Members revealed that two thirds of drivers (65%) think a lack of traffic police on UK roads is giving people the impression that they can get away with many driving offences. Most of the things people think are being overlooked are pretty serious. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa) has published a very helpful factsheet on road rage, if you want further advice. Serious road rage incidents are pretty rare, but the police will help you if you are in serious trouble. For the most part though, if you're courteous and kind to other drivers, admit your own mistakes and generally stay calm, you'll be fine. Safety First !!!🥇

In some of their most vulnerable and fear-driven moments, recently injured employees are being asked to provide details about what happened to them and why it happened. What I believe we are trying to identify in these moments (aka accident investigations) are the environmental conditions, individual factors, or organizational practices that "caused" the incident, so they can be mitigated. When done correctly, these "investigations" should produce meaningful lagging indicators, allowing for a more specific cause of loss to be identified. Often a key piece in the accident investigation process, we need our supervisors to understand 1) How important they are 2) The role that stress and fear plays in the lives of their supervises 3) The role that stress and fear plays in their own lives. Maybe this will help create more empathetic, connected, and valuable interactions. Feel free to contact me at Brad@movement.team to discuss further
