Last two weeks provided me an unique opportunity to attend two events #greensteelsummitmena2024 at Dubai & #SPE Innovation and Collaboration for Low carbon energy solutions at Abu Dhabi. It was a pleasure to see two different sectors working towards a similar goal - help achieve CO2 emission reduction while making most of existing infrastructure. It could be really sensed across both the forums that industry has waken up to take this challenge and contribute to the global emission reduction commitments. Low carbon hydrogen and carbon capture & utilization (CCU) were the highlights which you could hear across the panels, participants and theme for both the conferences. What was interesting to see was everyone asking the questions on similar lines - - How much can each industry contribute - By what route can they contribute - How can carbon capture be applied and when applied how can it be utilized - What is the policy/incentive support for implementing the carbon capture system - How to balance the additional costs of carbon capture As an engineer having worked in the field of hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and now focusing on CO2 capture solutions, I strongly feel that cross industry collaborations can help answer atleast a part of the puzzle of utilization and incentivization of the CO2 capture. One such example is CO2 capture in steel process and use the CO2 for enhanced oil recovery/sequestration. Another route can be methanol manufacture using blue/green hydrogen! The industry looks for more! What idea do you have..

Just to let you know. Fission is on its way to becoming redundant faster because it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and only an interim industry in the world. They will decommission it soon, as there is a shortage of fissile fuel, similar to what is happening with fossil fuels. If you're interested in nuclear energy, opt for the cleaner and safer option of nuclear fusion. Fusion offers more energy security and sovereign security than fission and the development of more jobs, newer careers and industries in the Nuclear fusion industry. It will be interesting as the fission fuel shortage becomes real as they try to treble the industry and advances in the renewables, grid-attached variable hydrogen power generation with batteries and fusion as a total system solution of power generation for the whole world and not just 39 rich countries. Without weaponisation, pollution of our waterways and the need to bury waste have been and will continue to be dangerous for thousands of years. What a waste of time you are here. Fission fuel. It is going to get tight in 100 or 80 years. Which Nuclear fission or fusion? https://lnkd.in/g36Z4k6P
