A key part of the Act is the Age-Appropriate Design Code. It requires platforms to prioritize the best interests of children in their design and default settings. https://lnkd.in/g7uEJFQY #AgeAppropriateDesignCode #KidsOnlineSafetyAct

How Absurd! How ridiculous! Stupid Thought-Frames in Europe came up with the next „masterpiece“ and „Innovation“ demand: People with disabilities cannot use certain websites due to barriers. The legislature is now addressing this issue. Websites must be accessible to everyone, meaning all users should be able to understand the content and navigate the site. Accessibility Law Effective from Late June This is the requirement of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), which will come into force on June 28, 2025. Passed in 2022, this law implements the EU directive on accessibility into German law. Penalties for Non-Compliant Businesses Companies that miss the deadline without taking action will face consequences. Initially, authorities will set a deadline for improvements – which, according to expert Wessel, will be “quite short.” If companies fail to comply, they risk fines. In extreme cases, the website may be taken offline until it meets accessibility standards. “In any case, it results in reputational damage,” says Dreyer. (source FVW) *********************** But we do not have any customer in that segment! We should invest our precious time and resources to avoid this crap in order not to be fined? Shall we make a milestone and report to our team and shareholders about this as Achievement? Hey: Those sitting in your closed meeting rooms on top of your mountains:have you got any power of reasoning still? just a question! 🙈🙈🙈

Did you know that Glide and Make are official tag team partners? Read my post below about how that came in HUGE for a recent client.
I was excited to hear that Glide and Make are now officially tag team partners, working together to make better apps and workflows. I wanted to show how I used them together in a recent app. The Mason Schools Foundation The Mason Schools Foundation (MSF) is an incredible organization that helps fund teacher-initiated projects in our school district. Over the past 15 years they’ve funded over 400 grants. That’s a lot of data to keep together! They approached me about building an app that would achieve their big goals. 1) Organize existing data - mostly living in Google Sheets created via Google Forms. 2) Close the loop between applying for a grant, reviewing those grants, and showcasing them for the public to see. The result is the MSF Grant Showcase app! Grant Reviewing - Printable Versions Needed! To help MSF grant committee members review incoming grant applications, one tab in the app serves as a “Grant Warehouse” where all grant data can be seen. They are able to add their own personal notes and approve funding amounts for each grant. HOWEVER, taking paper notes on print outs has long been the preferred method for many committee members. MSF needed printable documents in their process. Glide and Make Get Together I solved the print document problem using Glide and Make! The workflow goes like this. 1) A teacher applies for a grant by filling out lots of key information. 2) Using a button only available to MSF Grant Committee Members, Glide triggers a webhook to gather up all of those key pieces of information and send them into the Make scenarios. 3) Make pivots all of the data into a pre-made Google Doc template to create a new document for that specific grant and sets the sharing permissions. 4) Make then uses the Glide connection again to send the URL to the Doc right back into the Glide. That Google Doc webview URL is inserted into an awaiting column in the data row for the grant. How about some screenshots?: https://lnkd.in/gCZXhHaJ Just like that, the grant review team has a gorgeous printable document with all of the information they need to review the grant application. Evolving the Solution I created an older version of this scenario before Glide and Make got together in an official sense. I used the older Glide-Make connection to bring over data and used the same Google Doc template. In the old scenario, the irritation came when trying to insert the Google Doc URL back into the Glide table. I had to work out a way using the HTTP app in Make to PUT data back into Glide. This involved some messy work that didn’t truly feel like a “no code” solution. I’m glad it is much easier now. It was workable then, but I much prefer the new solution. Want to learn more about how no-code apps can solve problems for your school, non-profit, or small business? Reach out to me, I’m currently taking on new clients looking for their very own Glide app.

Accessibility Grace Period Bill https://lnkd.in/gMwd8VxX On May 24th Governor Polis signed into law House Bill 24-1454, which delays liability for digital accessibility problems until July 2025 provided the organization claiming immunity meets certain requirements. The Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) describes the grace period bill and how it compares to the earlier rules in this memo (Google Doc). Many of us have been working diligently to clear up accessibility problems with our websites before July 1. If you’ve already made good progress–even if you won’t be able to fix all known accessibility issues before July 1–the grace period bill is probably not necessary. But […]

Digital sustainability is about reducing the environmental impact of websites. This involves optimizing images and code, using energy-efficient servers, and encouraging eco-friendly practices. Sustainable design not only helps the environment but also improves website performance, resulting in faster load times and better user experience. Moreover, consumers increasingly prefer brands that prioritize sustainability, making it a strategic advantage for businesses. https://bit.ly/33zvCoJ #GreenWeb #EcoFriendly #DigitalSustainability #LHG #LightHouseGraphics
