The just-released data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics’s National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) shows violent crime has soared under Biden-Harris. Under Biden, rape soared by 42%, robbery by 63%, and aggravated assaults by 55%. If you look at rape, robbery, and aggravated assaults (the NCVS doesn’t measure murder), between 2016 and 2020, violent crime fell by 15% under Trump and soared by 55% under Biden between 2020 and 2023. https://lnkd.in/ex8aPNez

Today's news about the recent cases involving young individuals convicted of serious crimes is deeply concerning. In Norfolk, a man caught with three knives while fleeing from the police was given a suspended sentence. Similarly, two twelve-year-olds were convicted of the murder of Shawn Seesahai. The leniency shown in these cases raises important questions about how we address issues like child criminal exploitation, street violence, knife crime, and gang-related offenses. It's crucial to acknowledge the escalating nature of these problems and take decisive action to prevent further harm. Let's work together to ensure that the consequences of such crimes are treated seriously to deter future incidents and protect our communities. #CrimePrevention #CommunitySafety #YouthJustice

Using Fake Evidence is a Federal Crime punishable by Prison Time. It is time to get politics and hate out of Justice. The total years of prison someone could face for using fake evidence to defraud a federal judge and jury could be as high as 40 years under certain circumstances, if convicted on multiple charges: Fraud (18 U.S. Code § 1341) — up to 20 years in prison. Obstruction of Justice (18 U.S. Code § 1503) — up to 20 years in prison. Perjury (18 U.S. Code § 1621) — up to 5 years in prison.

The Australian Crime Victimisation survey results for 2022 – 2023 found that 55% of peoples who experienced physical assault reported the most recent incident to the police. It was identified that the most common reasons for people not reporting to the police included: 🔹The victim/survivor thinking that the crime was too trivial or unimportant. 🔹The victim/survivor did not think police would be able to do anything if they reported it. At VictimConnect we can provide you with guidance and support about what the steps would look like if you were considering reporting to the police, if you have been impacted by a violent crime. We are here to listen and support you through this process. 📱VictimConnect - 1300 318 940 #SupportVictimSurviviors

After 2 years as VRU Director in the OPCC for Hampshire and the IOW I see many reasons for optimism. In addition to this knife crime data from the ONS Police data shows a 10 % drop in Serious Violence in our communities compared to the previous 12 months. ⚠️Knife crime and serious violence are preventable not inevitable⚠️.I have learnt a lot: - We must focus on children involved in violence in partnership with a safeguarding lens. They may be causing risk to others but they are likely to be subject to exploitation and are at huge risk themselves. - Youth Justice and Police need support from other Statutory Agencies, VCSE Sector and Employers to develop credible alternative pathways for young people. - Education leaders want to be involved. They hold key data and information. They need to be inside the tent of any prevention partnership. - Follow the evidence of what works and listen to what people close to the problem say about why people carry knives or become involved in gangs before you develop your plans (YEF). - Provision and support is there in our communities but the referral pathways and feedback loops need to be much clearer. You have to work very hard to get young people who are most at risk to engage. It is resource intensive but the benefits are huge. - Our ability to understand and interpret data across agencies to see developing risks is poor. Data sharing well will inform prevention and save lives. I’m grateful for the support of PCC Donna Jones and for the hard work, creativity and passion of the VRU team. The VRU is nothing without the VRP though . The commitment and determination of key partners is what will continue to make our communities safer. Local professionals please keep a look out for secondment opportunities to join the team once we have funding agreements in place for FY 25/26.

A youth crime emergency Fear has been growing in the nation’s capital amid a violent crime surge, up 39% last year and many kids are caught up in it. Data show juveniles make up the majority of arrests in DC for crimes like robbery and carjacking. For carjackings, which nearly doubled in 2023, the average age of those arrested was 15 years old. Guns are used in about half of carjackings, police data show. City officials have faced widespread criticism for the alarming crime numbers as well as a drop in arrests and prosecutions. Some argue many defendants, including juveniles, have received a slap on the wrist after committing serious offenses. In recent months, city leaders have turned to some tough-on-crime measures to address the crisis. Now consider… https://lnkd.in/gbcTA568 As for people so too for the nation and nations.
