Here’s something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: The average cost of a classic #Thanksgiving feast for 10 people—from the turkey to the pumpkin pie—has dropped 5% from last year. This year’s cost is $58.08, down from $61.17 last year, and down 9% from $64.05 in 2022, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 39th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey. It adds up to about $5.81 a person in 2024. Of the 11 items on the Farm Bureau’s menu, seven cost less than last year: turkey, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, a vegetable tray of carrots and celery, pumpkin pie mix, pie crusts, and whole milk. Only four menu items—dinner rolls, fresh cranberries, whipping cream, and cubed stuffing—cost more. Even Thanksgiving extras such as ham, russet potatoes, and frozen green beans cost less than last year. Adding those items to your menu increases the total cost of the meal for 10 to $77.34, or $7.73 a person. But that’s still 8.7% lower than last year’s grocery bill for those items. ... #ThanksgivingDinner #FoodPrices

Good news! You don’t need to avoid Grandma’s pie on thanksgiving. Unless, of course, her pie sucks (sorry grandma). Or unless it was dropped on the garage floor and “salvaged” before the party (100% true story). Here’s how to stay on track on thanksgiving with your recovery goals during race prep 1. Don’t skip meals! Maintain energy levels starting with a solid breakfast with all of the macronutrients. 2. Use the “Champ Meet Week/Rest Day” plate for meals before and after your Thanksgiving meal. 3. Stay hydrated all day. Take consistent sips of fluids rather than chugging large amounts at once. Start with 1/2 your bodyweight in ounces as your baseline minimum. 4. Fill your Thanksgiving meal plate with 1/4 protein (turkey, brisket), 1/4 starchy carbs (potatoes, stuffing), 1/4 color (brussels, cranberries, green beans), and a serving of festive fuel (pie, other dessert). 5. Slow down and enjoy being with friends and family. Thanksgiving isn’t just about the food! Happy Thanksgiving!!
