Good day folks. Reflecting on the recent loss of a legend, I recall working under the guidance of another titan, Mr. Azim Premji, during my tenure at Wipro Infotech. Back in 2001, I had the honor of accompanying him to two customer meetings, where I learned invaluable lessons that have stayed with me since. Key takeaways: - Effective preparation goes beyond a briefing document; understanding the customer's domain is crucial for success. If you have to be a 1 in 100 sales person, you need to know their business. - Listening is paramount. Mr. Premji's approach of letting the customer speak first and then asking specific questions showcased the art of conducting a meeting. - Align with the customer, but remember to stand up for your rights. - Lastly, humility leaves a lasting impact. Mr. Premji's demeanor highlighted the importance of staying grounded despite achievements. The world knows this already but I experienced it firsthand. On a lighter note, I believe every salesperson should have a stint at Wipro to lay a solid foundation for their career. It was a pivotal step in shaping my professional journey. ☀️ Recently there is news to move from crowded tier 1 cities to tier 2 cities and company is giving incentives to do so. Yeah, Infosys is giving incentives up to 8 Lakhs for moving from Bengaluru to Hubballi campus. I think it is a wise move to decongest tier 1 cities. Infrastructure constraints like traffic congestion and this year the water woes added to this. Tier 2 cities like Hubballi , Mangalore, Mysore, Belgaum, Udupi, Davangere etc are to be encouraged for such movements. What is your take on this? This has to be done across the country so that migration is minimum and roots are intact.
