Disney doesn’t sell amusement parks, they sell joy and nostalgia. Budweiser don’t sell beer, they sell humour and friendship. GoPro doesn’t sell action cameras, they sell adventure and capturing epic moments. Nike doesn’t sell trainers, they sell motivation and the pursuit of greatness. Amazon doesn’t sell online shopping, they sell convenience. Netflix doesn’t sell video streaming, they sell relaxation and escapism. L'Oreal doesn’t sell beauty products, they sell confidence and self-expression. Great brands sell emotions, not products.

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has announced a shift in strategy: the company is stepping away from co-financing movies based on its intellectual property. That said, Hasbro remains open to licensing its IP for movies, TV, and other media—just without taking on the production costs. While this approach might limit the upside potential of major box office hits, it also minimizes exposure to the volatile boom-and-bust cycle of the entertainment industry. It’s a notable departure from Nintendo’s (very) recent hands-on approach with its expanded universe, but it’s a valid—and arguably safer—move to safeguard shareholder value. What do you think? Is this the right balance between creative ambition and financial caution? #EntertainmentStrategy #IPManagement #CreativeLeadership https://lnkd.in/eSeaD6Ms
