For our next ‘Changemakers’ feature, we are highlighting Monish Siripurapu and his work at Ant Studio and CoolAnt. Monish, a Solar Decathlon India jury member, is the CEO and Founder of Ant Studio. Ant Studio has developed AeroLeaf™, a terracotta building envelope system that promotes natural cooling through evaporative surfaces and a nozzle effect. Shaped like a leaf, it shades, ventilates, and cools spaces by channelling air along its porous, water-storing modules. The studio recently used this in a commercial project in Bilaspur Chhattisgarh. The building is oriented towards the southwest direction, with more emphasis on the west than the south. Its facade is designed to capture part of the sun as it moves from south to west. The resulting design is a parametric facade where sunlight enters the building for most of the day, creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadows. All this without obstructing the view from the inside! #SDI #ChangeMakers #SDIchangemakers #DesignChallenge #StudentCompetition #NetZeroEnergy #NetZeroWater #NetZero #EnergyEfficiency #Architecture #Engineering #Buildings #Construction #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #BuildLess #BuildSmart #WhatsItAllAbout #smartwaystobuild #buildlessbuildsmart

We designed a window module that seamlessly integrates tradition with innovation. At its core are inverted funnel-shaped, handcrafted mud pots, which enhance ventilation and lighting while adding a distinct character to the architecture. Using the Venturi effect, the module facilitates air exchange—drawing cool air indoors and naturally expelling hot air. The unique shape also diffuses sunlight, creating soft, glare-free illumination while maintaining thermal comfort. These pots are crafted by the skilled local potter community of Jharkhand, molded and fired with traditional techniques to ensure durability and thermal efficiency. After being transported to the site, the pots are carefully embedded into the structure using locally sourced materials, ensuring a stable and seamless integration into the design. The result is a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics. By merging local craftsmanship, scientific principles, and sustainable construction, this project celebrates heritage while redefining modern architecture. #terracotta #jharkhand #india #sustainable #architecture #architect #greenbuilding #zeroenergy

📸 "Designing Beyond Boundaries" "Architecture, at its core, is the art of balancing the tangible with the intangible. Every structure we design serves a purpose far beyond its walls – shaping memories, evoking emotions, and nurturing human connections. We build not just for function, but for the subtle stories that unfold within the spaces we create. For me, architecture is an unending journey. Each line I draw and every concept I explore is a quest to honor the past, embrace the present, and anticipate the future. It’s about designing not just buildings, but experiences; crafting spaces that resonate with both beauty and purpose. With every project, I’m reminded that our true impact as architects isn’t just in the skylines we shape but in the lives we touch. Here’s to building thoughtfully and leaving a legacy of spaces that inspire." As a “building -by -laws consultant” , our group became no.1 consultant in odisha so far, with our constant effort & god's grace. #ArchitectureJourney #ThoughtfulDesign #BuildingExperiences #ArchitectureAndBeyond #CraftingSpaces #InspireThroughDesign

Thoughtful design practices can significantly reduce environmental impact and achieve sustainability at all levels, from macro to micro. We are looking back at our project, the Symbiosis International University (SIU) campus, which offers a dynamic learning environment for 1,000 students. The campus is designed to be context-sensitive and in harmony with its landscape. A synergetic relationship between people and nature is created, ranging from buildings to systems, through innovative zoning, passive design and sustainable materials. 🟠Strategic placement of the buildings along the site’s natural contours minimizes the need for cutting and filling. 🟠Excavated material such as basalt stone from the cut-and-fill process is repurposed to construct foundations and retaining walls. 🟠Sundried compressed earth bricks (CEB) are locally sourced and integrated into the facade of all the buildings. 🟠Local stones like Kota, Granite, and Shahabad are utilized for flooring and wall cladding. 🟠Green terraces are incorporated to help mitigate the heat island effect. 🟠Recyclable steel members serve as the framework for roofing systems. #IMKArchitects #Sustainability #SustainableDesign #EnvironmentalImpact #CampusDesign #Learning
