Today in Britain’s World, Basil Germond, Joe Burton, Daniel Prince and Simona R. Soare, investigate the importance of the cyber domain to Britain’s naval power ‘The proliferation and increasing “democratisation” of advanced general-purpose technologies like AI and robotics will make it difficult to restrain adversarial access to new capabilities. In such cases, information superiority, more than mass, will play a key role.’ You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eQDwc3em #BritainsWorld #Cyber #Maritime #SPC2024

Uncertainty in the maritime domain is compounded by a sustained growth in maritime traffic and trade, technological disruption, environmental change, resource depletion, and the opening (or deliberate closing of) sea routes, as well as attempts to erode the liberal maritime order, including freedom of navigation and other maritime norms. Read our analysis of the cyber domain and Britain's naval power here, with thanks to Council on Geostrategy:

The Lockheed Martin AGM-158 JASSM is a stealthy, long-range precision missile designed for air-to-surface strikes. Key features include: Stealth design, reducing radar detectability. Long range, with the JASSM-ER version exceeding 1,000 km. Guidance using INS, GPS, and an infrared seeker for precise terminal targeting. Disadvantages: No onboard radar or real-time targeting updates, limiting flexibility against moving targets.
The Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team at AFA’s Air, Space & Cyber Conference last week recently revealed the exciting and cutting-edge AGM-158 Extended Range. As the challenges our customers face on their missions become increasingly intricate, extensive, and severe, it's crucial that they have access to the right technology to accomplish their objectives and return home safely. Built on the proven JASSM-ER system and the innovative LRASM system, the AGM-158 XR provides a low-risk solution at a fraction of the cost and in less time than a new program, ensuring that our customers stay ahead in an ever-changing threat landscape. NATO releases first ever quantum strategy - NATO "The strategy outlines how quantum can be applied to defence and security in areas such as sensing, imaging, precise positioning, navigation and timing, improve the detection of submarines, and upgrade and secure data communications using quantum resistant cryptography. Many of these technologies are already used in the private sector and have become the subject of strategic competition." Calian Group knows that space capabilities are essential to conducting modern warfare. From land-based or airborne sensors transmitting real-time data, to net-enabled communications systems and data fusion in command posts for maintaining situational awareness, modern warfare needs space capabilities, AI and cybersecurity.
