Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is a cutting-edge imaging technique that captures information over the entire range of the given electromagnetic spectrum at each pixel in the image. HSI in the over-thousand-nanometer (OTN) wavelength range is suitable for detecting the composition of organic substances and for deep tissue medical imaging. In a new Optics Express study, researchers from the Tokyo University of Science developed the world’s first visible-to-OTN rigid endoscope, enabling accurate portable HSI. This innovative technique, which utilizes supercontinuum lighting and an acousto-optic tunable filter, has great potential for advanced medical and industrial imaging. Our tool aims to address this critical need by offering a comprehensive approach to image quality assessment. Image quality assessment is important in AI to ensure the inputs of the model are reliable and the outputs clinically meaningful. Together with colleagues from Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH), we developed an automated tool for breast MRI quality assessment as part of the RadioVal EU project. 💡 The tool combines both subjective criteria and objective image quality metrics, and works on both conventional and dynamic MRI acquisition protocols. We are excited to share our recent app note on high-speed laser ablation ICP-TOFMS mapping with the #icpTOF. This technology enables full-elemental, quantitative imaging from major to trace elements in a single ablation run. We've achieved ablation speeds exceeding 1 Mpx/h, with imaging speed primarily limited by the laser repetition rate and sample transport from the laser ablation system. While this study was performed on the icpTOF 2R, the maximum time resolution for studying ultra-fast transient signals, such as nanoparticles, is 12 µs with the icpTOF S2.
