SHE@CYBER was created to address the pressing need for cybersecurity professionals and to actively engage marginalized groups, specifically women, in the industry. This seeks to address the skills gap and the gender diversity imbalance. ‼️ Despite the increasing importance of cybersecurity and the rising need for professionals, the lack of women’s representation and subsequent talent shortage in this field pose vulnerabilities, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the overall cybersecurity industry. 📉 Read more in our latest article below! ⬇️ #DigitalSecurity #WomenInCybersecurity #SoftSkils #TechnicalSkills #SoftSkillset #DiverseWorkforce #CyberEducation #DigitalEurope #CyberSecurity #InclusiveTech #TechDiversity #EmpowerWomenTech #SecureFuture #InteractiveLearning

Cybersecurity is now the fastest-growing IT occupation in the UK with a 128% increase in roles over the past few years, and yet the number of women in cybersecurity roles has fallen from 23.8% to 17.5%, according to a new report from Socura. It's a worrying trend, and there needs to be questions why cybersecurity, and technology in general, seems to have such a gender gap, and why more initiatives such as NCSC's Cyber First Girls competition and even Reed's own Women in Technology programme are needed. If you want to find out more about Reed's Women in Technology mentoring scheme then do reach out, always happy to discuss. #cybersecurity #womenintechnology #womenincyber

One of the biggest objections I hear when it comes to the desperately-needed professionalisation of the #cybersecurity sector is that ‘professionalisation will adversely impact diversity’. Judging by the diversity rates in other professionalised industries, I believe this view is a red herring and one designed purely to discredit the idea of professionalisation with no basis in fact. Why am I so certain of this? Well, have a read of this article which features research from my alma mater ISC2 that shows just how woeful rates of diversity, particularly female cybersecurity professionals, is. As I have illustrayed before, a professionalised #cybersecurity sector using vendor agnostic and accredited learning and experiential pathways provides certainty to individuals of any background of what is needed to be considered a “professional” in the sector. When individuals attain what is needed by way of knowledge, skills, experience and code of conduct, and this is formally recognised by a body that has standing as a professional standards body, that individual is able to break beyond any claim that they are deficient in their abilities. In fact, I argue professionalisation supports diversity initiatives. what are your thoughts? https://lnkd.in/gDABmCZw

Great article by Lynn Dohm, Executive Director of Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) about the important benefits offered by diversifying the cyber workforce. The Diverse Cyber Workforce Act could help us improve in so many ways, which Lynn covers in this article. And as important as improving diversity truly is in itself, it's important to note that it provides true cybersecurity benefits as well. https://lnkd.in/e5ZRSs32 #cybersecurity #womenincybersecurity #wicys #DiverseCyberWorkforceAct #diversity #inclusion

Did you know that women frequently outperform their colleagues across all seven NICE (National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education) categories and at every experience level? Yet, despite this remarkable expertise, the percentage of women in cybersecurity barely increases each year. The challenge is clear: women face a significant lack of advancement opportunities in the cybersecurity field. It's time for businesses to make a pivotal shift—one that actively supports, advances, and accommodates women in cyber. By fostering an environment that values and promotes their talents, we can drive real progress and innovation in the industry. #WomenInCyber #Cybersecurity #DiversityInTech #Leadership #CareerGrowth
