Since its founding in 1979, GCFD has been a pivotal force in distributing food to pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other programs, addressing both immediate food needs and the root causes of food insecurity. Here's an overview of GCFD's key strategies and impact: - Innovative Partnerships: Collaborates with local farmers, grocery stores, and food manufacturers to rescue and distribute surplus food. - Community Programs: Operates mobile food pantries, soup kitchens, and nutrition education initiatives to reach those most in need. - Advocacy and Education: Advocates for policies to address hunger’s root causes and educates families on nutrition and food budgeting. - Workforce Development: Offers job training programs to help individuals gain skills in the foodservice industry.
