Principles of Perioperative Safety and Quality on the Global Stage We mostly address patient safety in various service segments however it’s important to ensure patients’ safety throughout the entire journey from admission until discharge from the hospital. This requires a multi-sectorial approach. with the involvement of health providers, policy makers, and global stakeholders toward strengthening the surgical care system, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. As part of the Patient Experience strategic priority in Strategic Plan 2026, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) has begun the design and implementation of a co-design framework. This framework aims to foster a shared understanding of co-design among staff, patients, and families, ensuring it becomes a cornerstone of how we deliver care. Over the past two years, tremendous effort has gone into defining what co-design means specifically for TBRHSC. A diverse committee of over 30 individuals—including frontline staff, physicians, administrative staff, and Patient Family Advisors (PFAs)—collaborated to craft a definition that reflects the values of our Hospital. Check out his key takeaways: 💬 #RPM was a hot topic in conversations among speakers and attendees. 🔍 Although there was a lot of discussion on RPM and #preventivecare among speakers and attendees, these innovations were hardly seen among the event's vendors. 🌱 Financial Viability + Patient Experience: There was a significant presence of primary care providers at the event. The majority of the conversation among independent #primarycare providers revolved around staying financially solvent, thinking outside the box to drive revenue, and creating a positive experience for patients.
