The process of providing evidence against fee claims can be immensely complex. Sorting every piece of project-related information, both current and historical, requires a substantial investment of time and resource. The Challenge of Shallow Architectures The scant attention given to architectural models—an average of three to four weeks per project—signals an oversight of the strategic map that could navigate stakeholders through current and future business changes. This is not merely about the quantity but the depth and foresight that such diagrams embody. When diagrams fail to encapsulate the strategies for potential business evolution, they render a disservice not only to the project's immediate goals but also to its long-term viability. It's akin to setting sail without a compass, where even a strong wind can't guarantee you'll reach your destination.

Back in 1997, the field of building documentation was relatively unexplored. With my background as a licensed architect, I recognized the significance of using survey principles for precise measurements. Considering the complexity of documenting a building accurately, it raises the question: Why entrust such a critical task to amateurs or inexperienced individuals? Wouldn't it be wiser to work with specialists equipped with the necessary tools and expertise? Do you believe in leaving it to the experts or taking a more hands-on approach? #FutureOfBuildingDocumentation #TechInnovation #3DLaserScanning Video by GrowthMatch

Stop wasting time on things like ”tabs vs spaces”. Use a linter and move on. Consistency is enough. Save your energy on topics like matter (e.g., choice of infrastructure or code structure on the architectural level). #softwareengineering

It's a good point to automate these less important, yet still noticable aspects of software development. For most of these, like indentation, formatting, package structure and layout, naming, use of 3rd party libraries etc. - consistency across project is more important then the actual choice. This is not only a programmers' dilemma, there exists a whole concept of "bikeshedding". This article gives some insight into it, and possible antidotes: https://lnkd.in/gePB-ExS (though using Zoom/Teams/Meet/Huddle has it's own set of separate issues)

Architects should uniformly look to move from hourly fees to Value Pricing. But what is Value Pricing? ⤵ This quote from Jonathan Stark's newsletter makes it so clear: "Conceptually, value pricing is dead simple: Set your price for X based on what it’s worth to the client, instead of what it costs you to produce. That’s it. That’s the core concept. It’s not rocket science."
