Minimum Viability has become part of the Innovation Management Lexicon.   It was first coined by Frank Robinson of SyncDev in 2001 – as a way to right-size a first product and test market response. It’s popular with startups looking to test if they have any pull from the market for a set of features that first adopters will pay money for. I like it because of its embedded agility – do something, quickly, learn adapt, and adopt. This idea is built into my Webinar on Achieving Innovation Fitness - how companies improve innovation results. Let’s now drop in a second idea about innovation management Toolkits. A “toolkit” is a package of approaches to do an innovation management job at hand. You’ll know the tools you use. Some tools are used regularly and others for special jobs. The time has come to move on to new challenges. This is a very old image of Jonathan Rintala and me, at KTH Innovation. We had just figured out we made the finals of Business Challenge 2021 and we needed a last-minute picture! Luckily, we actually ended up winning a price there (even though it wasn’t the big one). That’s just one of many experiences I've had only thanks to Univid. The entire process has been insanely valuable, and all the things I’ve learnt, and people I’ve met through Univid has been incredible. (To anyone curious about building something – just do it.) While Univid is not a unicorn (yet), our product is used for 1000s of webinars every year around the world, with hundreds of thousands of happy participants, and customer reviews of 4.8/5 on G2. That is something I’m very proud of building 😊 But the time has come to move on to new challenges, and since a few weeks I’m no longer working with Univid full time. Instead, Eric Lewerentz is taking charge of the tech going forward, and I will support whenever it’s needed. What the next step will be is still open. Until that’s decided I’m doing some consulting work. These last weeks, I’ve worked with Lovable on AI code-gen collaboration, and currently building a very cool product with Listen Labs that will be launching soon. If you are building on something, I’m excited to talk about collaborating! Also more than happy to help early-stage startups to maybe shortcut at least some of the mistakes that we made along the way!
