Sensing something off, I verified with the company directly and discovered it was a scam. In a twist, I responded to the scammers with a "special link," and their only reply was "funny"—a clear sign they knew I was onto them. (See attached image). This experience was a sharp reminder of how scammers exploit our aspirations with seemingly legitimate offers to catch us off guard. A recent #phishing campaign leverages #workplace fears and urgency in an attempt to steal email credentials. The attack begins with an email titled "Employment Termination lists and new admin position 2025" and an attached malicious HTML file (Staff Employment Termination listsPDF.html) disguised as an important workplace document. When opened, the attachment displays a fake login page, crafted to resemble a legitimate email login portal. The page employs a professional design with clean CSS, complete with branding elements such as a #DocuSign logo and references to #cPanel, a widely recognized web hosting management tool. These elements are meant to enhance credibility and trick users into believing the page is genuine. The login form prompts users to enter their email address and password, and when submitted, the credentials are harvested and exfiltrated to a #Telegram bot. The attackers leverage Telegram’s API for exfiltration by embedding hardcoded values in the script, including a Telegram bot API key and chat ID. These values enable the stolen credentials to be sent as a message to the attacker’s bot.
