On Veterans Day, we reflect on a profound truth: service comes in many forms, but military service stands apart. They say a Veteran is someone who once handed their country a blank check, payable with their very life. This isn't just a powerful metaphor - it's the reality of military service. Every man and woman who puts on the uniform makes this extraordinary commitment, whether serving four years or thirty, in times of peace or war. What makes this service unique? It's the absolute nature of their commitment. Veterans don't choose their assignments or set their terms. They go where needed, serve who needs them, and sacrifice without question. They put aside careers, leave families behind, and suspend personal dreams for a greater purpose. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) While we call them heroes, many Veterans humbly point to their fallen comrades as the true heroes - those who paid the ultimate price. Yet today, we honor all who served, because each one embodied the same spirit of selfless dedication. At Serve Funding, their example of service inspires our own mission to serve our clients and partners. This Veterans Day, we encourage you to not only thank a Veteran but to follow their example: set aside your own agenda and find a way to serve someone in need. - Michael Kodinsky #VeteransDay #VeteransDay2024 #HereToServe #Sacrifice #ServantLeadership

Veterans #BuddyCheckWeek: A Time to Connect and Support, October 21-25 As we approach Veteran #BuddyCheckWeek from October 21-25, it’s a crucial reminder that our commitment to our fellow veterans doesn’t end with our service. It’s an opportunity to actively reach out, connect, and offer support to those who’ve shared the same experiences, sacrifices, and challenges that come with military life. Checking in on a buddy can be a simple, yet powerful, act of kindness and care. Too often, veterans carry the weight of their service silently, feeling isolated or disconnected after leaving the military. Veteran #BuddyCheckWeek encourages us to break through that silence, to pick up the phone, send a message, or arrange a visit with those we served alongside. These check-ins aren't just about reminiscing or catching up—they're about showing our brothers and sisters that they are not alone, no matter where life has taken them since their service. This week, let’s pledge to do more than just say we care about our veterans—let’s show it. Whether you’re part of the American Legion family or simply a concerned friend, this week is the time to step up. A friendly conversation might make all the difference in someone’s life. Together, we can strengthen the bonds of our veteran community and remind each other that we are always here to help and support one another. So, who’s your buddy? Make that call today. To learn more about how you can participate in #BuddyCheckWeek and get resources for reaching out, visit American Legion Buddy Check at: https://lnkd.in/e6_ApZmf and join the mission to ensure no veteran is left behind. We’re stronger together. Respectfully, David Heredia, Jr. Commander, Department of Maryland 2024 - 2025 #BuddyCheckWeek #AmericanLegion #VeteransHelpingVeterans #VeteranSupport #CheckOnYourBuddy #BeTheOne #VeteranCommunity #NeverAlone #BuddyCheck #VeteransMatter #SupportOurTroops #VeteranWellness #StrongerTogether #VeteranMentalHealth #VetsHelpingVets

Normally, my Veterans Day reflections center around my time with the Cavalry—the stories, the traditions, and the pride that comes with that chapter of my life. But this year, I want to shift the spotlight to an experience that was just as significant, yet often overlooked: my time as a human research volunteer at the Natick Army Labs. It was there that we faced some of the toughest tests—not just for our bodies, but for our willpower. From enduring hours in frigid water during the cold water study, to adapting and thriving at high altitudes, and even braving the unknowns of taste-testing experimental MREs. We pushed our bodies to the extremes in the name of advancing the warfighter’s experience, and it wasn’t easy. But the most remarkable part of that journey wasn’t just the challenges—it was the men who stood beside me. These guys were some of the best people I’ve ever met, each one pushing beyond their limits, united by the shared mission and the bond that came from overcoming trials together. It was an honor to call them my friends and brothers. The hardest part about leaving the military is the loss of that tribe, that deep sense of identity, purpose, and community. You can rebuild many things, but finding another tribe like that? That’s rare. So today, I raise a salute to my tribe out there—those who shared those trials and those who continue to seek that sense of brotherhood and growth in life after service. Keep growing, keep learning, and keep thriving. That’s what our fallen brothers and sisters would want. Here’s to all the veterans: past, present, and future. Your sacrifices, your resilience, and your stories matter more than words can say. Happy Veterans Day. #veterans #VeteransDay #military #army #humanresearch

Honoring Veterans on Veterans Day Today, we take a moment to honor the dedication and sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in our armed forces. Here are a few unique facts that remind us of the incredible contributions of our veterans: 📅 A Legacy of Service: Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" in 1919, marking the end of WWI. By 1954, it became the Veterans Day we know today, a time to honor veterans of all conflicts. 👩💼 Leaders and Problem-Solvers: Did you know? Veterans make up 10% of all U.S. business owners. Their leadership skills and work ethic often translate into successful ventures that benefit communities across the nation. 🌍 Continued Dedication to Service: Veterans remain active in their communities after active duty. Statistics show that veterans are 30% more likely to volunteer, proving that their commitment to helping others never fades. 🕰️ Continuous Vigilance: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery has been guarded continuously since 1937, a powerful symbol of commitment and respect. Today, let's celebrate and thank our veterans for their bravery, integrity, and dedication, which inspire us all. #VeteransDay #HonoringService #Gratitude
