As we navigate the post-election landscape, let's work to channel "rage philanthropy" and fund more unrestricted grants to support nonprofit organizations working on important social causes. Let's catalyze this moment to fuel an increase in trust-based philanthropy, which will empower organizations to drive meaningful change, regardless of political tides. https://lnkd.in/eD28wuQn
Rage is a powerful emotion. And just like in 2016, after Donald Trump won, it’s driving some donors to give more to nonprofits they think will fight policies they disagree with. Groups like Earthjustice and the Center for Reproductive Rights are seeing an uptick in gifts. While it’s still early and not yet clear if this wave of giving will match 2016, experts say there are some steps nonprofits can take to turn these in-the moment donors into steadfast supporters. “The bump goes away unless you work to sustain it,” says Gabriella Morris, chief development officer for the Center for Reproductive Rights. Rasheeda Childress reports on what groups are seeing and how to hold onto those donors. Read the story: https://lnkd.in/gKH9QAad

#GivingTuesday is December 3rd. For better and for worse, from the civil rights movement to Dobbs, the South is often the blueprint, not the exception, in the United States. No matter where you live, please consider giving to the following vital and exceptional organizations working to advance sexual and reproductive justice, health, and rights in the South through legal and policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, mutual aid, and health care delivery: Alabama Campaign for Adolescent Sexual Health Birth In Color* Converge: Partners in Access* Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy Feminist Women's Health Center (Atlanta) Florida Health Justice Project Healthy and Free Tennessee Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia Jane's Due Process Kentucky Equal Justice Center* Lift Louisiana Mississippi Center For Justice* MISSISSIPPI REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM FUND SisterLove SISTERREACH SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW Southern AIDS Coalition Texas Equal Access Fund, WAWC Healthcare (Formerly West Alabama Women’s Center) Women's Rights & Empowerment Network Yellowhammer Fund * The following two groups aren’t on LinkedIn but are doing essential work as well: Avow TX (led by the wonderful raven e. Yet they are grossly underresourced relative to what they need to meet this moment. Take some time to read about these organizations and the incredible work that they are doing. And if you can, support at least one of them on Tuesday. Then keep giving to them in the months and years ahead. Consider recurring donations if possible. *Special thanks to the organizations with an asterisk for serving on the Steering Council that guides NHeLP’s strategic initiatives with Southern partners furthering sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice in Medicaid this year. #Philanthropy #USSouth #SocialJustice

Please join me in supporting these women... We wanted to introduce you to 3 incredible women running in the most competitive House races who have been leaders on reproductive rights. If they win their races, Democrats are projected to flip the House -- which is why we're asking if you'll consider making a donation that will be split DIRECTLY between them ahead of their major FEC fundraising deadlines! Dr. Kristin Lyerly (WI-8) -- Kristin is an OB/GYN who worked with Planned Parenthood who successfully sued to BLOCK the Wisconsin total abortion ban from taking effect. She's now running in a special election for the open GOP-held WI-8 which Democrats came within 3% of carrying in recent years. Dr. Yadira Caraveo (CO-8) -- Yadira is the most vulnerable House Democrat in America. Nate Silver's 538 gave her a 91% chance of losing in 2022 and she ended up defying the odds to win by just 1,700 votes. Defending this seat is critical and Yadira co-sponsored legislation in Congress to codify Roe v. Wade nationally. Christina Bohannan (IA-1) -- Christina is an environmental engineer running in a district Republicans only won by 6 votes. While her opponent voted in support of a bill that would restrict if not outright ban IVF access, Christina has spoken publicly about her experiences with IVF and vowed to protect IVF and abortion access if elected. Your contribution will benefit 314 Action Impact Slate - PRIORITY Q3 2024. You can donate through ActBlue... Or look them up online and donate directly... Recurring donations have an outsized impact on campaigns early in the cycle -- Early support greatly increases their odds of winning! Have an ActBlue Express account? Sign in to give faster.

As we continue to grapple with the aftermath of the egregious overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, access to abortion for North Carolinians and out-of-state patients in our state has become increasingly critical. As neighboring states tighten restrictions, North Carolina clinics and activists have stepped up, but the battle is far from over. Today, as a six-week abortion ban goes into effect in Florida, North Carolina remains one of the last refuges in the South for abortion past six weeks. It's crucial to support organizations and abortion funds that are: - Ensuring access to basic healthcare, including abortions, for birthing people. - Working with legislators and advocating for legislative protections and expansions of reproductive freedom at local and state levels. - Mobilizing activists to combat stigma and misinformation surrounding abortion. - Challenging medical misinformation and promoting accurate education. - Collaborating with organizations advocating for racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disability rights. This is not a one-size-fits-all issue. I've been deeply involved with Pro-Choice North Carolina, serving as a summer intern, dedicated advocate, and board member. Our annual Spring into Action Gala is around the corner, marking the first in-person gathering since 2019. Donations to this gala support our efforts to secure and protect everyone's right to abortion, birth control, bodily autonomy, parental leave, pregnancy free from discrimination, and comprehensive sexual education, among other initiatives. Please consider donating and joining us either in person or virtually to support our cause and hear from our inspiring guest speaker. And remember, your voice matters—don't forget to vote in the upcoming elections. Together, we can make a difference. #reproductivejustice #abortion #reproductivefreedom #northcarolina #racialjustice

I believe that protecting reproductive rights is one of the most important fights of our generation. And it might be the issue that defines the 2024 election. There’s so much panic around November, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s at stake. 1 in 3 women have already lost access to abortion – and if Trump and the Republicans succeed, far more restrictive laws are coming. We’re all tired of politics, but we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines. It’s time to get to work. From now until election day, Portal A will be partnering with Harrison Clark LLC on a campaign that uses content creators to reach young voters in swing states around the critical issue of reproductive freedom. In the next six months, #VoteRepro will be producing 100+ videos reaching millions of young voters that get to the heart of why this election really matters. If you want to support this project, here are three ways you can help: 1. DONATE. This work is funded entirely by individual donors. If you are looking for a place to put your money to work to defeat Trump and save democracy, please visit our Act Blue page: https://lnkd.in/gUcWeA67 2. FORWARD OUR JOB POSTING. We are looking for an amazing, dedicated talent producer to help us coordinate all our outreach and communications with creators. https://lnkd.in/gPDFrnyr 3. SHARE THIS POST to spread the word. Now more than ever, we must stand in solidarity with those fighting for bodily autonomy and reproductive justice. In their recent Inside Philanthropy op-ed, Oriaku Njoku, Executive Director of the National Network of Abortion Funds, calls upon the philanthropic community to move beyond mere charity and embrace a commitment to sustained support. Given the relentless attacks on abortion access, supporting abortion funds with multi-year, unrestricted grants is not just a choice—it's a necessity. Let's come together, acknowledge the urgency of the situation, and work towards a future where reproductive rights are not just a dream but a reality for all. Read the full op-ed below: https://lnkd.in/gfnNUtBc.
