From today, the cost of a single bus journey in England will be capped at £3 on most routes, an increase from the previous £2 fare cap. (With some regional variations). Regular bus users can still benefit from further savings with season tickets and multi-journey passes. At Bus Users UK, we continue to advocate for affordable and accessible public transport for all, ensuring no one is left behind. The £3 fare cap is a step towards affordability, but with services varying across regions, passengers face a postcode lottery. Affordable fares must go hand-in-hand with reliable, accessible buses for all. Bus Users UK is here to ensure their voices are heard. #PassengerRights #PublicTransport #farecap Press Bus Users UK

We’re thrilled to announce a significant milestone here at Masabi: we were recently awarded a $97 million contract extension by New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), spanning up to 12 years. Since the 2016 launch of MTA’s eTix mobile ticketing service, Masabi’s software has become critical to railroad fare collection operations. Today, 70 percent of MNR and LIRR’s revenue is enabled by mobile ticketing. We’re delighted to be supporting the MTA in enhancing the TrainTime app and completing OMNY delivery, while continuing to create experiences that MTA riders love. MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber stated, "The new approach is going to give users the sense of interoperability they expect while limiting MTA's contractor risk and saving millions of dollars." The MTA's trust in us to manage the future of fare payment on the railroads is a testament to our capabilities, and we are excited to see what the next decade brings! Part 2: Back to business, those giving lifts often charge 30 – 50% less than a taxi going the same route and them giving lifts for payment is in terms of the NLTA, Unlawful – However, there’s no evidence that Minibus Taxi operators and/or their squad cars have got the authority to supervise road users and that’s what upsets the public… The granting of permits & monitoring is largely a Municipal Traffic Enforcement function, even licensing is done at that level. Therefore, naturally it falls on for example, Tshwane’s TMPD or Johannesburg’s JMPD to discourage lifts for Profit as any one ferrying passengers for Profit needs an Operating Permit…

In 2024, according to ATSB in the 6-year period from July 2015 to June 2021, there were 211 collisions involving rail vehicles and road vehicles at level crossings in Australia (about 35 per year). Of these, 34 of the collisions involved heavy road vehicles (that is, heavy freight vehicles or buses) and there are >1,000 near misses in 2024. LSM TrainSense® (Int. pat. pend.), a cost-effective, life-saving solution priced under $100 per in-cabin device. This system requires no extra infrastructure or maintenance, is easy to implement. It can integrate with existing technology to reduce human error and environmental factors, providing alerts and can trigger vehicle deceleration or even braking if warnings are ignored. The National Ticketing System (Motu Move) is finally here with the pilot kicking off this Sunday, December 8th, on Christchurch's Route 29 (Airport to City)! This marks a significant first public step milestone in modernising New Zealand's public transport payment system. What's new: • Contactless payments will be accepted (debit/credit cards) • Existing Metrocard and cash options still available • Initially only for adult non-concession fares This is just the beginning of the national rollout; • Early 2025: Timaru and Temuka • Mid 2025: Greater Christchurch • By end of 2026: Nationwide implementation Big thanks to everyone involved, NZTA, Environment Canterbury staff, and all partners making this transformation possible. Ultimately one payment system for the whole country will be awesome!
