A great weekend giving the gynecologic keynote address for Richard Wolf Medical Instruments Corporation National Sales meeting on operative hysteroscopic resectoscopy. I feel fortunate as a clinician and surgeon to partner with industry to bring the best surgical care to my patients and to educate others about the benefits of minimally invasive surgery. For my fellow physicians,: working with industry can often not only help your patients and your practice, but give you a creative outlet to explore new procedures or ideas around your work. If you have been looking for your next thing, try it out! #LifelongLearning #ILookLikeASurgeon

New this month in JAMA Surgery from our team: using statewide data, we found that nearly 90% of biologic/biosynthetic mesh for ventral hernia repair is used in clean, elective cases. We also found that half of mesh B/B mesh utilization was among small proportions of hospitals (10%) and surgeons (5%). Based on this, we identified substantial opportunities for practice improvement from the standpoints of cost and ensuring high quality clinical outcomes from ventral hernia repair.
