One key way NEDs and C Level roles are found are through networks. Current Board Chairs, NEDs and C Level execs recommend potential candidates from their network for these coveted positions. But do the right people know you? Are they aware of your capabilities and expertise? Do they know about your career aspirations and goals? Do you know how to leverage your network to position and attract these opportunities? Not sure how to answer these questions? Click the link below

1. Don't Apply For Old Jobs When searching for your next role, narrow your filter on job boards to only include the last week in your results. This helps you to prioritize those listings that are fresh and not the ones that are outdated, have been around for months without seriously hiring, or were listed weeks ago but were already filled—and the recruiter forgot to take it down. This makes even more sense when you consider the fact that according to ResumeBuilder, only 6% of companies keep ghost jobs active, on average, for less than one week. Most ghost jobs are active on platforms for a few weeks to months, with 28% of employers listing them for a couple of weeks, 31% for a month, and 19% for three months. Source: Forbes.com

When I started my job search nobody told me that my career can only grow as my company. So I rolled the dice and got lucky. Looking back 4 years, there’s no need to gamble when the right knowledge will give you confidence. Here are 5 questions I obsess over in a quest for a sales role: - Is the product a want or need? - Which companies has leadership been at? - Who’s my direct leader and what’s their superpower? - Have employees at that company hit the same goals I have for myself? - What’s the ONE thing preventing reps from hitting their numbers? When I learned this I realized landing with Dell EMC was the jackpot. As you look for your next job, make sure you ask the right questions. Your career will always move as fast as the company your work for.

Competitive advantage. We normally talk about competitive advantage in sports - height, reach, bone density, lung capacity. What about business? We all have different competitive advantages (CA). Yours probably isn't the same as mine. And your is also equally valuable. When you understand your CA, you can understand what career options make more sense, what roles are enticing, and what companies to avoid. You can also win interviews, choose your promotion path, and be a lot more relaxed with layoffs. You can find your competitive advantage with self awareness, interviewing peers, and interviewing leaders. "Why did you hire me?" is a great question to ask after a year on the job. When I asked this question, I was surprised that something I took for granted was actually quite valuable to other people. It had never occurred that my habit was a competitive advantage. Life is competitive. You win (or lose) based on how you play the game. Understanding your CA gives you a significant better chance of winning. #40pb #humanresources #winning #competitiveadvantage

Feeling the Burn of Rejections? Read This. Did you know that Josh Allen, the NFL star QB, wasn’t a top draft pick right out of high school? He sent emails to over 1,000 college coaches and got ignored—until one day, his persistence paid off. In today’s tough job market, it’s easy to feel discouraged after sending out 100s of resumes and facing silence or rejections. But just like Josh Allen, it’s about pushing forward even when the odds seem against you. Every application is an opportunity to refine, to improve, and to remind yourself that you’re still in the game. Rejection is part of the process, but it doesn’t define your worth. If you’re not hearing back, keep sending, keep networking, and keep honing your skills. Sometimes, that 1,001st attempt is what opens the door. We’ve all been there, and you’re not alone in this. Check out his story on TikTik here: https://lnkd.in/ez4mbmVx #JobSearch #NeverGiveUp #Resilience #JoshAllen #CareerGrowth #TechJobs

It's wild how short people's memories can appear, a reporter just said "I've never seen layoffs like this before." Really? 2020: Millions laid off in one week. 2021: Economists scream people need to "forced" back to work. 2022-2023: Same economists: Recession is coming!!!! Need to lower employment to cool economy [aka lay people off]. Thousands laid off. 2023-2024: Actual data: Recession never happened. 2024: Hiring/layoffs continue. Business as usual. Focus on what is real and what YOU control: your career management decisions. Your resume. Your ABL (always be looking). Your interviewing awesomeness. Your salary negotiation strategies. Your readiness for whatever. You can do this. You're worth it. Need Career Coaching or a Standout Resume? Contact Me #beyourbestbrand #beyourbestcareerarchitect #resumes https://lnkd.in/gJnn_Wj3

"Daniel" was fired after shortly after he was promoted to VP. The unit's President "Ben" didn't want Daniel, he wanted "Keith" to get the promotion. But, Daniel's promotion was above Ben's control. So, now Daniel is reporting to someone who wants him fired. Ben started doing all the typical crap: Undermining Daniel, saying inappropriate things to Daniel, the whole 9. Daniel's fired. Daniel is VP at another firm. Daniel had no problem getting another job. Because this what happens when we: a. Always promote our brand inside AND outside of your firm; b. Build and maintain good relationship inside AND outside of your firm; c. Always look at new opportunities; d. Always ready to get a new job; e. Don't trust any job we don't own at firms that aren't ours more than we trust in and believe in ourselves. You're not trash because you were fired. But, the time to invest in effective career management strategies: always, not just when you need help. You owe them nothing, you owe everything. Need Career Coaching? Or a Standout Resume? Dak Prescott, QB of the [despised😁] Cowboys is now the highest paid player ever in NFL history. Is this because Jerry Jones loves him? No. Is this because Jerry Jones hates him? No. It's because when an organization believes they will lo$e out if you leave and/or reject their offer, they will do whatever$$$$ they can to keep you. Period. This is called business. If a firm refuses to give you the raise that you earned AND asked for (closed mouths don't get fed)... If a firm refuses pay your worth during salary negotiations... They don't value you. Period. They want your awesomeness at a crappy price. No, son. Stand for your worth. You owe you. Need Career Coaching? Or a Standout Resume?
