The best leaders we’ve studied had a peculiar genius for seeing themselves as not all that important, recognizing the need to build an executive team and to craft a culture based on core values that do not depend on a single heroic leader. But in cases of decline, we find a more pronounced role for the powerful individual, and not for the better. So, even though I remain a leadership skeptic, the evidence leads me to this sobering conclusion: while no leader can single-handedly build an enduring great company, the wrong leader vested with power can almost single-handedly bring a company down. Ever hear the phrase, "you know good leadership when you see it." While this may be true, great leadership should never be passive. It requires ongoing and active participation from all whom it serves. This post attempts to challenge prior notions of what leaders and leadership should look like, particularly as the push-and-pull of society works to bring forth a new prosperity. This can be a tough topic. Virtual Workshop with Andie Kramer and Al Harris, Andie & Al Monday, June 3, 2024 Register here - https://lnkd.in/gFikijcx Please join us on Monday, June 3, 2024 when Andie Kramer and Al Harris will discuss the need to assure our workplaces are diverse and inclusive has never been greater. A key to accomplishing this is for there to be strong allies for all those people who are not part of the dominant in-group. But what does it mean to be an ally to such people, and how can you be an effective one? In this session, Andie and Al describe who should be an ally, why the role is so important, and three specific ways an ally can make a significant difference in the work lives of colleagues who for one reason or another are not receiving the leadership training and attention they deserve.

In this blog Michael succinctly shares with us the role and impact of the alignment leader, the importance of organization design ("why" and "how"), and a model for us to follow when designing and/or redesigning our organizations. I really appreciate the role of the alignment leader in building trust because in a trusting environment we're more likely embrace vulnerability. This has the potential to further enhance performance and improve culture. What do you most appreciate about working with a leader who embodies the characteristics of an alignment leader? Did we just kill the leaders of tomorrow ⚜️ Generations of aspiring leaders took inspiration from tales of visionary leaders whose animal spirits led to creation of large enduring organisations. These stories were at times crazy, risky and many times highly adventurous and mostly less than ideal, but were still close to the reality and challenges that they had to navigate through. With academic models, research and analysis becoming the bastions of leadership, and media scrutiny at all time high, are we at the alter of “leadership” sacrifice. Read my article “Did we just kill the leaders of tomorrow” published by the bespoke diaries at the link: https://lnkd.in/dQKHQ4gf Would be glad to hear your views, counter view and feedback. #leadership #thoughtleader #globalleadership Disclaimer: Opinion expressed is in personal capacity. I have changed my organisation however, the article still reflects the name of my previous organisation.

The political activist, author, and lecturer Ralph Nader once noted that, “I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” We agree. Leaders change the world. But they don’t do it alone. Leaders inspire and others to take on their cause as their own and empower them to create the change they want to see in the world. Our mission at Logos is to build a better world by equipping people to become leaders who ignite change in the world for the good. Learn more about our work at https://lnkd.in/ekqNH5iz
