Achieving improved outcomes for migrants and refugees requires that they be integrated in host countries in terms of having identification, right to work, access to healthcare, and other essential services. However, implementing policies to achieve this is no small feat. Mobile populations are difficult to reach and track, reliable data is often lacking, and scaling programs without compromising their original effectiveness is a persistent challenge. Tying funding to measurable results can help address these issues, but results-based financing remains an underutilized tool for enhancing outcomes for refugees, migrants, and the communities that host them. Today Gabriela Vargas Tobón, Nicolás Hernández Muñoz, Ana María Pérez Patiño, Mateo Zárate Cáceres and I published an article in Forced Migration Review building on our experience at Instiglio with Semillas de Apego, Fundación Santo Domingo, Mired Barranquilla IPS, and others, sharing insights that we hope will be helpful to others working to improve the cost-effectiveness of interventions. Thankful to the Forced Migration editorial team for their support along the way, and looking forward to reading the other articles in the issue. You can find the whole issue (no paywall!) on the Forced Migration Review website.
