𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆, a day that holds great significance in Australian history, is celebrated on June 3rd every year. This day commemorates the landmark case of Mabo v. Queensland, which marked a pivotal moment in the fight for Indigenous land rights in Australia. It is a day to remember and honour the courage and determination of 𝗘𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗶𝗸𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗼, who fought for recognition of Indigenous land ownership and paved the way for future generations. The Mabo case challenged the existing concept of terra nullius, which claimed that Australia was an empty land when the British arrived and therefore belonged to no one. This false notion had been used to justify the dispossession of Indigenous peoples and their land. However, in a historic decision, the High Court of Australia recognised the traditional land rights of the Meriam people of the Torres Strait Islands, acknowledging that Indigenous Australians have a strong connection to their land and their rights cannot be ignored. Mabo Day is a reminder of the ongoing struggle for Indigenous rights and the need for reconciliation. It is a time to reflect on the injustices faced by Indigenous communities and to acknowledge the significant contributions they have made to Australian society. It is also a day to celebrate the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples, who continue to fight for recognition and equality. As we commemorate Mabo Day, it is important to educate ourselves and others on the history and significance of this day. We must also recognise the ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous communities. Education is key to creating a more inclusive and equitable society. #MaboDay #Karak . . . #karakconstruction #rigging #civil #construction #waconstruction #culturalawareness #steelfixing #steelfixers #steelfixingforlife #formwork #precast #precastconcrete #concreteformwork #concreters #scaffolding #scaffolders #professionals #projects

PEACEFUL PLANNING ON THE BASIS OF REALITIES The advantage of peaceful planning is that because of it, the work of development begins from day one, while planning on the basis of unavailable resources means that development will remain a matter for the future. Updates on New South Warwickshire Local Plan! Following the Issues and Options public consultation, which was conducted between January and March 2023, the South Warwickshire Local Plan is now progressing to the Preferred Options public consultation (Regulation 18). This is proposed to be conducted between November 2024 – January 2025. In considering the consultation feedback on the five growth options, it has been agreed to omit Option 5 – “Dispersed” from the next stage of the Local Plan. The main concerns surrounding this option were the infrastructure requirements, access to services and increased dependency on cars, with the subsequent impact on increased emissions. Thus, the spatial growth options are now as follows: 1. Rail Corridors 2. Sustainable Travel 3. Economic 4. Sustainable Travel and Economy (hybrid of options 1-3). Further details can be found at the South Warwickshire Local Plan website: https://lnkd.in/eHVw9Bxv If you have any land interests within the Warwickshire or Stratford on Avon area or would like any assistance or advice on how to maximise your influence on the Local Plan, please contact our Rugby office at enquiries@dlpconsultants.co.uk or on 01788 562233. #planning #LocalPlan
