A healthy balance between novelty and sufficiency? Recent EPO Board of Appeal decision T 209/22 considers a novelty-sufficiency squeeze attack in light of a phase I clinical study in healthy volunteers. Nadège Beynon and I review recent decision T 209/22, in which the Appeal Board considers the impact of a disclosure relating to a clinical study in healthy volunteers. The Board comments on the different standards that apply for novelty and sufficiency of disclosure, with the decision highlighting that an attack based on novelty-sufficiency squeeze may not always be effective. CMSA is proud to announce the release of the National Quality Forum (NQF) report on "Social Drivers of Health Data Utilization." As one of the four project implementers, CMSA collaborated with Marion Health in Marion, Indiana to enhance access to social resources for patients in need. Led by CMSA Members Kara McPhearson and Angela Mounsey, under the guidance of CMSA Sr. Manager of Education and CM Fellow, Rebecca Perez, MSN RN CCM FCM, this partnership resulted in a significant increase in access to services post-discharge, from 20% to 50%! Organizations collect data on social drivers of health (SDOH), but it's crucial to utilize this data to connect patients with needed resources. CMSA extends heartfelt gratitude to these case management leaders and the dedicated case managers from Marion Health. Together, we're making strides in addressing patients' needs!
