I was in Barnes and Noble over the weekend and I decided to look at LINUX magazine and catch up. I was bewildered to see them focusing on a topic I know well - steganography. Steganography is the art of hiding documents in other documents and the article discussed some common, yet basic, applications used to hide and recover items from documents. The tools I used could split a file among many files and encrypt the proof so everything appeared to be in the normal language in the off chance someone was able to detect my steganography and put the data back together... no one ever did. Well done steganography can pass through security endpoints, virus checkers, and other tools and be recomposed via a small script to penetrate/compromise a host so please pay attention to those boring, mandatory security training videos and keep alert. Data security is everybody's concern. Always be learning!

As someone who has grown significantly in the IT field in a relatively short time, one thing I've come to truly appreciate is how much of what I’ve learned has come from real-world problem-solving. While certifications and structured learning provide a great foundation, the real learning happens when you're faced with an unexpected issue and have to figure out how to fix it. Whether it's troubleshooting hardware, resolving network issues, or managing Active Directory, every challenge presents an opportunity to learn something new. There’s a kind of trial-and-error process that no textbook or course can fully prepare you for. The mistakes I've made along the way have been just as valuable as the successes—they’ve taught me resilience, adaptability, and, most importantly, the power of persistence. Each day in IT brings new hurdles, and with them, new lessons. That’s what excites me most about this field: the constant evolution and the chance to grow every single day. To anyone starting their journey in IT or cybersecurity: embrace the process. Certifications will give you the tools, but experience will teach you how to wield them effectively. It’s okay not to know everything upfront—because solving the problem is how you learn. What’s a challenge you’ve faced recently that taught you a valuable lesson? I’d love to hear your stories. 👇 #ITSupport #CybersecurityJourney #LearningByDoing #TrialAndError #ContinuousGrowth

To remain relevant in life, you have to keep learning.👌 Last week, I attended the Young Internet Champion Stakeholder Consultation organized by the Public and Private Development Centre. The conversations centered on: ✅ Educating teachers and school administrators on internet safety and its importance in the curriculum. ✅ Understanding the current level of adoption of online safety concepts and also establish Young Internet Champion Clubs within schools. During the breakout session where I was the scribe for my group, one of the key things we discussed was the online safety concepts teachers find difficult to teach; Phishing, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity amongst others. Equipping teachers with these concepts through free or discounted courses will help improve their level of awareness and confidence in passing the knowledge to their students. We also highlighted the need for parent’s enlightenment and active involvement in ensuring that their child is safe online. Overall, Online Safety should be everyone’s business. The task of creating awareness and ensuring implementation should not be left alone to those in the education sector. How are you advocating for online safety for our younger generation? Share with me in the comment section. #onlinesafety #younginternetchampions #ppdc #safeonline #computer #technology #curriculum #artificialintelligence #cybersecurity #teachersfollowteachers #professionaldevelopment #networking #learnerscrib #learnerscribconsult #preciousoluwadunsin

“Would you derive the same level of satisfaction if you bag a certification not because you understand the concepts but because you crammed? ” I saw this question in a random tweet yesterday and I could relate to it because of my learning journey so far. It’s not always easy grasping new technical topics but hands-on practice is a very powerful tool you can use to to conquer this pain. Imagine studying how to drive a car versus actually driving the car and meeting real world scenarios. You get a far deeper understanding than you would from a book or video. A more practical approach can also help you clear your confusion around new foreign concepts. For example, when I started a Linux course 3 weeks ago, I was completely lost. I wrote down everything the instructor said but did I even understand what I was writing? Not one bit. But as I got to the cyber range part of the course where I could practice in a command Line environment, all the concepts that made my head ache before, became so clear. Why did I decide to share this today? 💡 I’m aware some people already know practical exercises are the way to go but I decided to share this in case you’re someone who’s still struggling with learning something new. Maybe all you need is another approach. A more practical approach. I can’t thank CyberSafe Foundation and Confidence Staveley for making sure we Cybergirls get to hone our practical skills with projects. #cybersecurity #cybersecurityanalyst #selfdevelopment
