I had a fruitful discussion in Jakarta with Mr. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary General, ASEAN Secretariat. We talked about ASEAN’s Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) and the pivotal role digital infrastructure -such as tower, fiber, and data centers- plays in helping ASEAN achieve its objective of empowering businesses, specifically MSMEs, and other stakeholders across the region. We also underscored the importance of progressive and consistent regulatory policies to achieve this goal. According to a bottom-up model developed by Boston Consulting Group, ASEAN’s digital economy is projected to triple by the end of the decade through the natural adoption of digital technologies, growing from approximately US$300 billion to almost US$1 trillion by 2030. Progressive rules in DEFA would double this value contribution, unlocking US$2 trillion to the ASEAN digital economy. #asean #digital #atc #americantower #defa #atcapac #Jakarta

Incoming President Prabowo Subianto has promised GDP growth of 7 % so as to achieve advanced economy status by 2045. The question is how does he boost growth and encourage innovation?
