A powerful piece. Well worth reading.

Simplicity   Of late I have been contemplating the ability to simplify writing. As an author we strive to condense the meaning of a sentence to portray the moment as accurately as possible. Combining inner thought, scenery and emotion without lengthy exposition. Our time constraints are unlimited because pages are limitless. The movie script writer must be more concise and create a novel in two hours on screen. With the help of video, they work in an entirely different mindset from the novelist. Inner thoughts can be portrayed in dream sequences, the camara can fill in the scenery but the dialogue must be precise to connect the plot with the other facets of creation bringing the audience into the realm of the novelist intention for the story. My conclusion is the song writer is top of the field when it comes to consolidating a story. In three to five minutes these brilliant composers can tell a complete story and do it with musical accompaniment. I believe brevity and solid content lie somewhere between the three professions. The totally brilliant artist would be a person accomplished in all three categories. In summery I have decided that the folk singer is the best writer of all.
