It's never too early...okay, so January might be to early...but hey it's the end-ish of May, so why not start thinking about ways to add some fun to your workplace this summer, because, let's face it, summer is funner when work is more funner (this really ought to be a Dr. Seuss book for stressed-out adults). 1. Go on a field trip. Summer is the perfect time to take the team on a creative walkabout through a zoo, park, downtown, or your local neighborhood. Use the field trip as a chance to give employees a break on a beautiful day, build teamwork, and spark creative ideas by encouraging everyone to scout interesting ideas along the way. 2. Hold a family open house. Not just a barbecue or social event, but perhaps something fun that also allows family members to see the inner workings of your business. Families are part of your employees’ support team, so winning over the hearts of employees’ families can help turn employees into loyal ambassadors for your business. 3. Set up an ice cream sundae bar every Friday (or every other Friday) lunch or afternoon. Rotate volunteers to manage the bar, or better still, encourage your senior leadership team to do it (tell them to speak with me if they balk at this and I'll tell them why it's an excellent idea). 4. Team lemonade stand contests. Each week a different team sets up and markets a lemonade stand in the office with proceeds going to your social fund or charity of choice. The team that demonstrates the most creative approach to marketing, raises the most bucks, or has the best tasting lemonade wins the coveted Lemonade Masters of the Universe trophy, which includes your company kicking in extra money for that team’s charity or project of choice. 5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off contest. Have employees share what their ideal day of hooky would look like. This is a great way to generate some laughs while learning something about your teammates. For bonus points, put everyone's name in a draw with the winning entry getting their very own Ferris Bueller Day off paid for. #funatwork #humoratwork #summerfun #summerfunatwork #inspiringworkplaces

December is the perfect time for team building, just save yourself and don't make one of these 5 mistakes... 1. Saying “Let’s Have a Gift Exchange—But Keep It Under $10!” ❌ What they Hear: Everyone gets something cheap and awkward. ✅ Focus on quality time, not who can find the weirdest thing in the clearance bin. 2. Inviting the team to a “Mandatory Karaoke Night!” ❌ What they hear: Sing or suffer. ✅ Not everyone wants to channel Mariah Carey in front of their boss. Keep activities optional to avoid making it weird. 3. Hosting an Ugly Sweater Contest in the name of team bonding ❌ What they hear: We’ll all bond over pretending this is fun ✅ A dress code doesn’t build trust—focus on something meaningful, like shared goals or stories. 4. Saying, "Let’s squeeze in some Q4 strategy during lunch!” ❌ What they hear: We’re pretending this is a “team-building event.” ✅ Reality: No one bonds over budget projections; give them actual space to connect. 5. Hosting a glorified meeting bc "Icebreakers + heavy content = bonding, right?” ❌ What they hear: We’re going to spend 30 minutes on ‘two truths and a lie’ before diving into org charts. ✅ If it's Team Bonding event, keep it that way. 📣 A few ideas that won't feel like a waste of everyone's time: >> a holiday cooking class >> cookie decorating contest >> gift-wrapping for charity >> hot cocoa bar & story exchange >> seasonal scavenger hunt Which one of those ⬆️ would you actually be excited for?? #lisarigoli #teambuilding #teamretreat #officeholidayparty

A few months back, some local clients and I decided to meet up for dinner, and what started as a one-time gathering quickly turned into a weekly tradition. These dinners have proven to be both enjoyable and enlightening. It's been fascinating to witness the formation of connections among local businesses, leading to numerous collaborative projects. I believe this is an initiative that other business owners could replicate in their own communities to reap immediate benefits. Personally, as someone with a keen interest in data and information, these meet-ups have been a fantastic opportunity to gain insights into various businesses and understand their challenges. Our system for organizing these dinners is quite straightforward. Every Monday night, I prepare an invite, selecting a local restaurant, and then send out a text on Tuesday morning with all the details like location and time. We stick to the same schedule each week—Thursdays at 6:30 PM—which helps everyone plan their attendance more easily. This timing has worked out well for us. I highly recommend it! #NetworkingDinners, #LocalBusinessCollaboration, #WeeklyMeetup, #BusinessInsights, #CommunityBuilding
