One of the best parts about being in the corporate workforce thinking through the Veteran point of view is realizing you have the choice to choose. You don’t always get a choice in the military, and you definitely don’t get to pick your bosses. The saying is absolutely true that people don’t quit their jobs, they quit their bosses. Thinking of it from the veteran point of view, you no longer have to deal with a company commander screaming at you because you didn’t have the right screwdriver for change of command inventory, or the colonel downgrading your award because you aren’t the rank they consider as eligible to receive the award that you deserve. You have a right to choose. If the company isn’t right for you, move on. You are a product of your environment. If your environment is not helping you succeed, go find the one that will. Find what makes you happy, find a place that actually wants you there. Go be great out there this week! #Military #MilitaryCommunity #MilitaryVeteran #TransitioningServiceMembers

Happy Veterans Day to all my sisters and brothers in arms. Some valuable insights from my time. 1. Deliberate development of service members is valuable to your company. Why? Because as military leaders we have to understand people’s strengths and weaknesses. Then place them in the most advantageous space for them to excel. While they excel, we have to develop them further to be able to lead the next generation of service members. This cycle repeats and it something veterans take with them after departing service. 2. Working with people from all over. We are a force made of people from every background. We learn to adapt, understand and communicate across things that would normally divide or slow the civilian population. Adaptability and being able to understand others is a major strength veteran possess. For Veterans Day this year, I challenge you to not only thank a Veteran. It’s always for us to hear that. But, have a conversation with a veteran in your work center. Ask about what they learned in the military and ask what was the best part for them. You will get a good story. If you want to laugh ask them about basic training. Reflecting back and telling those stories you may laugh until you cry. #military #veterans

Most of your posts are really laugh out loud Austin von Letkemann , but I think this is your best post yet. The #cost and #businessmodel for changing the PCS #cycle is a really important conversation that impacts #retention and #recruitment goals across the #dod Side note, my observations of the #airforce #servicemwmbwrs is that they have significantly longer dwell time on station, so my first thought is that the #army will be catching up to them. Also, even though this is mostly about service members, similar considerations could be discussed about #civil #servants. There’s certainly benefits of cross pollinating best practices and techniques across a globally dispersed and diverse workforce.

5 year model for PCS?! This could have significant impacts for the military family. From a healthcare perspective it has the potential to positively impact continuity of care- a major obstacle faced by the military community, especially those with family members with atypical or special needs enrolled in the EFMP.
