Week 2 of Cancer Survivors Month is a good time to increase awareness of the evidence supporting how acupuncture can help people experiencing the short-, late-, and long-term consequences of cancer treatments. Acupuncture is a safe, evidence-based therapy recommended by oncologists to help support people living with and beyond cancer. Especially influential are the recent guidelines for pain management published jointly by the Society for Integrative Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), which recommend acupuncture as an option to manage many forms of cancer related pain https://lnkd.in/ejhmP5yZ Make Cancer Survivors Month a time to increase awareness about how acupuncture can support cancer survivors. #CelebrateSurvivorship #NationalCancerSurvivorMonth #cancersurvivorship #integrativeoncology #supportivecare American Association for Cancer Research British Acupuncture Council

🌍 Not Data, But Ideas Change the World 🌍 I’m excited to share my recent interview the Lundbeck Foundation discussing our research, which started with their LF Experiment grant. Three years ago, they supported our unconventional idea to treat anorexia nervosa with Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT). Thanks to their backing, we completed, mouse studies and a successful human feasibility trial, and we're now seeking funding for a full-scale placebo-controlled study. This journey proves that true innovation often comes from daring ideas. Read the full interview here:[https://lnkd.in/dvUxghY5]

🚨 NEW Post on the EBA Forum 📣 Congrats on the new publication, Dr Beverley de Valois et al. ✨🤩 These are the first international, multidisciplinary peer-reviewed recommendations for safe acupuncture practice in integrative oncology. https://lnkd.in/eu5_Rc8a 👉 Acupuncture offers a non-pharmaceutical, evidence-based approach to managing many uncomfortable consequences of cancer and its treatments. ✨💪 It should be routinely considered, and ideally offered, as part of the multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care, as it can be administered safely within and outside of oncology settings, at any stage of the cancer survivorship pathway. 📣 These recommendations clarify the principles, knowledge, and practices which are necessary for the safe and appropriate administration of acupuncture to people affected by cancer. 📍 They aim to upskill and empower practitioners and protect patients. 🤞 It is also hoped that the publication of these recommendations will encourage policy makers and healthcare providers to regard acupuncture as a safe and effective part of routine care for people living with and beyond cancer.
