Last week Ipsos Karian and Box released the report we've been working on all about psychological safety. EY also published their study on integrity, sharing the findings of work they did with our colleagues in Ipsos. Whilst I may be biased, both are worthy of a read. What stands out from both pieces is the disparity by seniority - our report largely speaks to the lost opportunity of innovation and ideas which are overlooked. But this is not to diminish the need to challenge when things aren't right, when integrity and ethics are called into question. EY and Ipsos' report points to a disparity in how confident people are in their whistleblowing procedures, both the ease of using them but the protection whistleblowers are given, whether they are board members or employees. Speaking truth to power is something we rely on for our political systems to work, but within our own organisations - if we are to succeed- we need to ensure employees feel safe and confident in speaking out.
