This month marks 9 (!!!) years since I started Willow and ran headfirst into this industry knowing literally nothing (except that I liked weed). At this point, I am not sure if I cry or celebrate. Whatever it ends up being, this is what I do know after all of these years: 1. Your team and employees over everything. They can make or break you. 2. Whatever you thought was going to happen in the time frame that sounded good in your head is typically not the case. Especially in cannabis. Circling back to the surprise at my 9 year anniversary! 3. Protect and nourish your network. 4. Don't burn bridges (or cash). I have found this sentiment challenging with many actors in this industry. This is where vices and meditation come in handy. 😉 5. Patience and perseverance is crucial. 6. Don't give up. Time and time again I've told myself it will be so much easier to just throw in the towel. Yet I still come to work every day. This road has been so hard but I look back on everything we have accomplished and I am so, so proud. I'm proud we created this category, I'm proud we have stood our ground, and I am proud we are still here. We have lots more in store for the future (especially a new machine debuting at MJBiz!!!!) and some renewed energy to keep grinding. 💫

Don't get me wrong, I love technologies that enable remote work, and virtual presence, but there's and undeniable truth that still holds: nothing quite compares to face to face interaction and groups of people actually spending time together. Last week our entire team at OrangeLoops experienced this first hand. We had everyone (well, almost) from everywhere come together for an in person work week, and a weekend retreat. It was a huge challenge from a logistics standpoint, but it was amazing. I feel things like this have an intrinsic value that's hard to balance in typical ROI calculations. #TeamBuilding #RemoteWork #CompanyCulture #OrangeLoops

CE Hon. Tracey Martin is en route to Reefton today to meet with locals fighting to replace the aged care services their community lost earlier this year. For many, the closure of Ziman House has meant loved ones must leave their town, their community, and their loved ones to receive the care they need. Today's update explores the challenges of delivering care in rural areas such as Reefton, and what New Zealand can learn from Australia's approach. Because we don’t have to reinvent the wheel here; we can learn from proven models and adapt them to meet the unique needs of our communities, ensuring equitable access to care for all New Zealanders, no matter where they live. Tracey also points out that these scenarios are the results of decisions. Somewhere along the way, a decision has been made inside Te Whatu Ora, inside government, that it is okay not to provide aged care to some of our communities. The ACA continues to call for members of government to look at what the Australian’s are doing, and consider the benefits for the New Zealand aged care sector of adopting innovative funding models, like block funding, to support rural and regional communities in providing sustainable and locally tailored aged care solutions. #AgedCare #RuralHealthcare #RuralCommunities
