Enjoyed moderating the AI/ML panel on Friday at the EV Charging Summit & Expo in Vegas. Heard some good feedback from several audience members afterwards and that it really got them thinking. There are so many exciting applications of AI and ML in the EV charging ecosystem, but some of my favorite are being able to predict and diagnose charger failures in advance, making sense of error codes, dynamic pricing, site selection and profit optimization, and fleet charging optimization. And on the consumer side, where we really need to head is in-navigation charging assistant that knows your preferences and automatically plans your trip route and which determines where to charge, when, and for how long to optimize your trip - be your goal the shortest trip duration, the lowest charging cost, or the best restaurant and amenity options or combinations of all three. We've only scratched the surface with AI and ML in the charging industry — and with so many challenges in the ecosystem from hardware, reliability and customer experience issues to predicting utilization and profit optimization, the next few years should be exciting indeed.
