The #FordF150 is a huge deal. So huge that it'd be bigger than McDonald's if it were its own brand, according to #AutomotiveNews. It'd be bigger than 3M, too-you know, the multinational conglomerate operating in the fields of industry, worker safety, U.S. health care and consumer goods. For #2018, the average transaction price, according to #KelleyBlueBook, for an #F150 was $47,174. Also in 2018, Ford moved more than 909,000 versions of the pickup. That's almost $43 billion in truck revenue alone. From 2016-2018, #Ford averaged about 900,000 F-150's sold per year. If you divide that by 365, it sells 2,486 F-150 trucks per day, every day. That equates to 103 F-150 pickups every hour, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ford has sold 1.7 trucks per minute, every minute of the day, for the last three years. That's why the 14th-generation F-150 pickup is kind of a big deal. Plus its two main rivals were both new in 2019. Let's consider those competitors: #Ram averaged 557,000 trucks per year over the last three years, and the #ChevySilverado was a bit higher at 582,000 per year. ■ The UK dealer group Listers has experienced a decrease in profits due to lower margins on new cars! Listers became the latest UK dealer group to deliver what is now a familiar pattern for financial results in 2023 with profits down and turnover up. By John Kirwan The company made a pre-tax profit down 54.6% to £18.4m on turnover up 1.8% to £1.3bn in the year to 31 March, 2024. The group’s overall gross profit margin decreased to 14.1% from 15.1% last time due to a cut in vehicles sales margins as a result to increased new vehicle supply from carmakers. During the year ,the group acquired two Toyota and a Lexus dealership in Bristol from Motorline. “During the year, the group made a profit before taxation of £18.4m with the group’s BMW/Mini, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen divisions making the most significant contributions to group profit. “The year has seen an increase of 17% in the number of vehicles sold, including agency sales with new vehicle sales increasing by 25.3% and used vehicle sales increasing by 4.9%,” it said in accounts filed at Companies House. “Along with an increase in aftersales turnover of 9.8% and a decrease in the average sale price of used vehicles, this results in an increase in overall group turnover to £1.314.1 million.” The company paid out a £8m dividend for the year compared to £10m the prior year. Two important quotes for those who point to the slowdown of vehicle sales as a consumer rejection of EVs: 1) "The bonus payouts apply to certain 2023 models and include gasoline, hybrid and Lightning variants." (In other words, sales are down across ICE, PHEV and EVs...or are they?) 2)F-Series sales fell 10 percent in the first-quarter to 152,943. The automaker does not reveal how many of those were F-150s, though it said sales of the F-150 Lightning jumped 80 percent to 7,743. (So Lightning sales increased?!?
