Every Monday our team takes time to be unproductive. We have an all-hands call (there's between 5-8 of us), and at the beginning we go around the circle and take time to just talk about how we're doing: • What was a win from your weekend? • What was a lesson you learned last week? • What's something you did you're proud of? Whatever you want to talk about. I always start and tend to go deep on the personal side. Like, wide open 😂 I'll speak about my plant medicine journeys, relationship issues, and other stuff most people probably wouldn't dream to bring into a work conversation. The result has been surprising. Team members talk about their kids, alternative therapies they're trying, dreams, wishes and desires... And that's just the start. • It unearths challenges and need for support. • It unlocks vulnerability and permission to be oneself. • It creates team building culture around authenticity. It's been an important part of our process as we grow together. I want people I work with to bring themselves to work and feel appreciated for who they are. • This is one of our competitive differentiators. • As a founder/CEO this in itself can be content. • It attracts not only clients who vibe but talent! Some days are full of inspiration, some days... what's going on!? We are driven to lead, yet we also need to go with the ebb and flow of business, life, family, the world around us... Today is one of those days, but instead of having a thousand thoughts in my head to contend with (aka 'inspiration'!) , I can 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸. Balance the urgency with consideration. With that step back, comes an appreciation of all the goods things, past, present and future. Even with the immediate stress we all face with day to day commercial and life expectations, there is 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁. Take time to reflect. So, here's to the great team at Wowza, all the new partnerships in currently in development and the people involved, the burgeoning professional network and awesome people of OTTRED, the family side (centre) of life, and.... would you believe: a beautifully sunny day here in the UK at last!.... We hired 18 people in the last quarter at Artha Group Some hires have already joined the team, and a few have even completed their probation. They’re now thriving in their roles and contributing significantly. What I did NOT do: • Misrepresent the role or cultural expectations to any candidate. • Compromise on our hiring process or policies to accommodate individual preferences. • Make too many positions a priority simultaneously. • Conduct multiple rounds of interviews for a single position. What I DID do: • Maintained a sharp focus on not more than 2-3 profiles at a time. • Communicated with simple transparency about cultural expectations and the role’s requirements. • Made quick, well-informed decisions to keep the process efficient. • Upheld Artha’s policies, procedures, and ethics without bending backwards to close positions. • Ensured every hiring decision aligned with the long-term objectives of both the organization and the candidate. Currently, I am responsible for deliverables across more than five domains at Artha. With these responsibilities, I still managed to accomplish every single goal I had set for these divisions - and for myself. How? Thoughtful planning and a firm commitment to the process. There’s no rocket science here, no shortcuts, no deviations - just consistency, focus, process and clarity on what truly matters.
