⚠️ Over 70% of the global workforce—2.41 billion workers—faces excessive heat each year, resulting in an estimated 22.85 million occupational injuries and nearly 19,000 deaths. As #COP29 approaches, the ILO will emphasize the essential role of social justice and decent work in global climate action. Addressing the impact of excessive heat on workers and promoting a Just Transition are critical for creating safer, more sustainable workplaces and resilient communities. It has just been too hot - especially being on the field in this heat. We will definitely have to take all of this into consideration moving forward and it will not just be about getting jobs done at all cost...because we are dealing with human lives.
