Ever wondered how PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) is diagnosed? Let's break it down! PMDD is a severe form of PMS, but diagnosing it isn’t always straightforward. Here's the scoop: 🔍 Tracking Symptoms: You’ll keep a detailed record of your symptoms over two menstrual cycles. This helps to differentiate PMDD from other mood disorders. 👩⚕️ Consultation with a Healthcare Provider: A thorough evaluation with your healthcare provider is crucial. They’ll review your symptoms, medical history, and sometimes conduct physical or lab tests to rule out other conditions. 📝 Diagnostic Criteria: PMDD diagnosis is based on specific criteria listed in the DSM-5, including mood swings, irritability, depression, and anxiety that significantly interfere with your daily life. Early and accurate diagnosis is key to finding the right treatment and relief.
