How do Equality Bodies across Europe promote and protect rights under the #EUCharter of Fundamental Rights? Our new factsheet curated by Magdalena Maier dives deeper into ways in which Equality Bodies utilise funding to support the Charter: 1️⃣ Issuing grants: The German Federal Antidiscrimination Agency (Antidiskriminierungsstelle des Bundes) funds the respekt*land programme, supporting 35 projects to improve legal advice and support services for discrimination victims across the country, even in rural areas. 2️⃣ Monitoring EU funds: The Cypriot Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights has a mandate to ensure EU funds comply with fundamental rights, including conducting ex-ante evaluations and issuing recommendations for rectification. 3️⃣ Directing funding to civil society and key areas: the Maltese National Commission for the Promotion of Equality and the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) Malta guide applicants to ensure proposals reflect fundamental rights and horizontal priorities. The Together (Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights) 2024 State of #ChildrensRights Report marks one year since the #UNCRC Act incorporated the #CRC into Scotland’s domestic law. The report highlights the potential for this legal framework to transform Scottish children’s lives. Australia can and should be doing so much more to uphold its obligations as a State Party to the CRC. Children’s rights should be a reality for every child in Australia. ALHR calls on the Federal Government to follow Scotland’s lead and introduce similar legislation to comprehensively incorporate our #uncrc obligations into domestic law. #auslaw #crc #uncrc #childrensrightsarehumanrights #childrights #children #humanrights #ourrightsourfuture Kerry Weste Juliet Harris Laura Lundy Faith Gordon Howard Choo DTP Diplomacy Training Program https://lnkd.in/e55n77Vp
