🌿New achievement: Nanogel-f for Safe Food Packaging without PFAS 🥙🍽 PFAS, known as "forever chemicals", have long been a concern due to their environmental and health risks. These prompted regulatory bodies to take decisive actions💪and commit to phasing out substances containing PFAS used as grease-proofing agents on paper and paperboard for food contact. At CellON, we recognize the urgency of finding a safer alternative. We've developed a practical oil-and-grease resistant Nanogel-f that can be easily deployed in the existing manufacturing processes. US FDA just published all their Q3's non objection letters(NOL). Among all the 14 NOLs, 5 are given to Chinese companies, including Kingfa, Alba RORR, Shenzhen Beauty Star, Zhengzhou Zhongyuan, and Phite Technology. Still having the most applicants for FDA NOL, the local recycling industry has been evolving. Capacity increase from quality rPET pellet producers is slowing down and only one applicant:Alba RORR is from this category. The other two recyclers: both Kingfa and Beauty Star focus on polyolefin recycling. Besides, local machinery producers are quickly improving their technologies and capabilities by increasing food grade recycling products into their portfolio. This is the reason why we see more machine producers get their NOLs in Q2 and Q3 of this year, and the future for sure.

One of the reasons why I Co-Founded newave was the research proven issue of chemical migration from packaging to product in cosmetics. With my daughter eight at the time, I wanted her later to have a choice of packaging that was not made from petroleum based plastic. This 2023 research paper - Migration Studies and Endocrine Disrupting Activities: Chemical Safety of Cosmetic Plastic Packaging - discusses the subject at - https://lnkd.in/gX89dkWc. The newave products to be launched 25 November, contain no petroleum within their formulations and no fossil-based plastic in the tubes. #savetheplanet #notoxins #newave

Are you aware of the content of our electrical and electronic waste? In our recent publication in Chemosphere, we developed a non target screening methodology for analyzing hazardous organic compounds and plastic additives in WEEE. More than 300 volatile and semi-volatile substances were detected, with flame retardants, UV-filters and PAHs showing the highest detection frequencies. You can explore it further in the link: https://lnkd.in/djvPD3qy
