🔍 An interesting look at this season’s top performers in La Liga so far, and their squad value per point won. 🔝 FC Barcelona and Real Madrid tops the La Liga table to far, with respectively 33 and 27 points, and a squad value per point gained of €28M and €51M. 📊 One of the leagues’s over-achievers this season, looking at the squad value, is 5th place CA Osasuna with a squad value per point won of €5M, showcasing that market value doesn’t always translate into success on the pitch. This can also be seen with Sevilla, who despite having a squad value of €217M, are 13th in La Liga with 15 points, and therefore a squad value per point won of €14M. #laliga #fcbarcelona #realmadrid #football

Real Madrid secured the La Liga title with a convincing 3-0 win over Cadiz, coupled with Girona's unexpected 4-2 victory against Barcelona. Carlo Ancelotti lauded his team's performance, labeling the title as "deserved" as they clinched their record-extending 36th triumph. Girona's win also earned them a historic first qualification for the Champions League. Despite heavy squad rotation ahead of the Champions League semi-final, Real Madrid remained laser-focused. Goals from Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, and Joselu sealed the victory, with Diaz's impressive strike, Bellingham's impactful contribution off the bench, and Joselu's late goal highlighting Madrid's dominance. Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save before Diaz's opener, and Nacho's brilliant run led to Joselu's goal in stoppage time. The triumph epitomized Madrid's outstanding season, characterized by minimal errors and well-deserved success, according to Ancelotti.

I have known and followed Eder Sarabia since his first experience as Quique Setién's assistant at Las Palmas. That team, along with Betis in the following years, are the teams that fascinated me the most and helped me develop my knowledge of the positional play model. When Eder began his journey as a head coach with Andorra, I was immediately convinced that he would be a very interesting coach and that his style would generate a lot of attention. This season, he will lead Elche CF in a top-tier campaign in the Segunda División. In the match against Córdoba, they used a 3-3-2-3 positional structure (with GK) in 'open build-up' situations, where the opposing team (4-2-3-1 defensive shape) applied pressure that effectively controlled the spaces. The GK was mainly used to create an initial 3v1, allowing one of the two CBs to carry the ball forward, breaking through the first line of pressure, and seeking solutions to progress. In this situation, the use of the 3v1 is effective. The left CB's ball progression happens without interference, due to the opponents marking the reference points, and on the opposite side, it causes disorganization, creating free space for direct progression. The development is straightforward: once the opposite fullback is found in that free area, with perfect execution, they drive diagonally towards the edge of the box and attack the goal. 💻 Analyzed with Play3 by Metrica Sports 🎟️ Contact me to receive the link to download ‘Play by Metrica Sports’ with 10% discount

Moving into Band 2 in my series looking at transfer flows into England, and to be honest I think we are getting into more interesting territory. Band 2 consists of Portuguese Primeira Liga, Turkey's Süper Lig, Belgium's Jupiler League, and The Eredivisie in the Netherlands. These leagues are ones that the FA have made it possible for players who have regular minutes to get a GBE through the number of points that they get. However, in this look at movement from the Primeira Liga, there has definitely been a reduction in the number of players coming over. A lot of money was spent on Enzo Fernández and Darwin Nuñez from Benfica in 22/23 which rocket-fuelled the money spent in the Primeira Liga that season, but it is the volume of players that has definitely shifted. The Portuguese era at Wolves certainly had an effect on the numbers pre-Brexit, and perhaps artificially inflated them, both in the Premier League and the Championship, but it is interesting that no fee has been spent on a signing from Portugal post-Brexit.

✍️ Álvaro Djaló, an athleticzale promise Álvaro Djaló is demonstrating the technical quality and tactical intelligence that he showed in Portugal and Europe. A left winger who surprised in Braga and who did not enjoy all the prominence he would have liked and who ends up aboard the ‘Bilbao gavarra’ for a cost of 15 million euros. The good movement in the transfer market of Athletic Club is already paying off, as Álvaro Djaló leads in La Liga EA Sports many of the variables that are key to the performance of a winger. Álvaro Djaló is one of the deepest and most vertical left wingers in the competition being at the level of well established wingers such as Raphinha or Lamine Yamal. He is clearly standing out in offensive variables such as moving behind the defensive line, taking advantage of defensive line imbalances or take on attempts. The data shows the profile of Álvaro Djaló as a winger and the superlative level he is at. Athletic Club, with Ernesto Valverde’s 1-4-2-3-1 formation, is a very vertical team with a lot of offensive intensity in the opponent’s half, which helps players like Álvaro Djaló or Nico Williams, leading wingers who are placing the Basque team at the top of the league. Nowadays, finding analysis and scouting tools that do not remain at the eventing level and that want to go a step further by justifying players' performances from a tactical point of view seems to me to be a great success. I found this article by Álvaro Djaló, Athletic Club winger, published by Kognia Sports Intelligence very interesting. #SportsAnalytics #Data #Eventing #Tracking #Scouting #Analysis #Soccer #Football #SportsTech #Sports
