Do you want to be one of the voices that report on the festival? 🎙️ Having a plurality of experiences and perspectives is what makes the festival special and that's why we're excited to host the third edition of our Media Outreach & Inclusion Scheme at IFFR 2025. By welcoming new and diverse voices to report on the festival, the scheme aims to remove barriers to journalists and media makers from communities that are currently underrepresented. Considering all that is going on in this world, DEI needs to be even more in the forefront than ever. Highlighting for the companies that need to hear it: "We have a responsibility to combat false narratives around DEIJ and share the truth about the impactful, purpose-driven work that is changing companies, systems and societies for the better." It's part of the work many of us do every day to help change the world. That IS part of business. #deiisgoodforeveryone #deiisgoodforbusiness
At MikeWorldWide, we believe in the power of communications to change the world. As storytellers and advocates for equality, we know what we say and do have power. And with that power, we have a responsibility to combat false narratives around DEIJ and share the truth about the impactful, purpose-driven work that is changing companies, systems, and societies for the better. We’re proud to partner with AMEC Measurement and Evaluation, Commission on Public Relations Education, Diversity Action Alliance, Hispanic PR Association (HPRA), Institute for Public Relations, The LAGRANT Foundation, Museum of Public Relations, National Black Public Relations Society Inc, Page Society, and The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations to raise awareness about the facts and positive efforts around DEIJ. Because the truth is: #DEIisGoodforEveryone #DEIisGoodforBusiness. #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Communications

Honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2024 Today, we recognize and honor the history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across the world. Indigenous communities have always shown strength, resilience, and a deep connection to the land – values that continue to inspire us all. As a minority-owned business and as someone who has experienced the power of diversity in the workplace, I believe it is our responsibility to celebrate the richness of Indigenous heritage. It’s more than just acknowledgment – it’s about creating wider paths for Indigenous voices to be heard and empowering future generations to lead with confidence. Let’s take today to listen, learn, and reflect on how we can uplift and support Indigenous communities, not just today, but every day. Together, we can work toward a future that honors equity and inclusion in all spaces.

My colleagues at the Centre for Human Security and Social Change have published a great piece about their collective experience navigating the challenges and opportunities of 'pracademia' - the space between academia and practice. The focus of this article is on their experiences in the international development industry, but their observations and insights are relevant for anyone working at the intersection of the world of ideas and the world of action. The insights that particularly resonated with me were about: - the relational work that needs to be done alongside research for it to really have an impact on practice - the tensions inherent in being a largely all-white organisation working in non-white spaces - the social benefits of doing this work as a team But there is so much more in there. Definitely one for your holiday reading list! (And there are free downloads available for readers not connected to a university library) Lisa Denney Elisabeth Jackson Chris Roche Allan Mua Illingworth Aidan Craney Ujjwal Krishna Danielle Campbell Eileen Christou Chris Adams Alex G.
Ever wondered what it’s like sitting between the worlds of academia and practice? In this Centre co-authored publication we discuss our collective experience of ‘pracademia’ – the tensions, challenges and opportunities it provides: https://lnkd.in/g49A6pWR
