📣 ISSA 5000 Update We’re pleased to share that we’ve published the International Standard on Sustainability Assurance 5000 (ISSA 5000) and it is now available on the IAASB website: iaasb.org/ISSA5000 This milestone represents years of dedicated collaboration with organizations and individuals who contributed invaluable support and insights, helping to shape a robust standard that will serve as a global baseline. ISSA 5000 provides a framework for qualified practitioners to deliver assurance on any suitable sustainability reporting standard or framework—meeting the urgent global need for reliable sustainability assurance. What’s on the horizon? Stay tuned for a range of guidance and application materials coming this January, with more to follow during 2025. 🌍 IESBA Sustainability Standards Update Our partner board, the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), is also finalizing its sustainability-related standards. These include the International Ethics Standards for Sustainability Assurance (IESSA) and updates to the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants for sustainability reporting and independence, as well as revisions to the Code addressing when experts work alongside professional accountants and assurance practitioners. IESBA anticipates approving its standards during its December meeting. Alignment and interoperability between ISSA 5000, IESSA, and the IESBA Code of Ethics will ensure a strong, unified global baseline for sustainability assurance.
