The Population Mental Health Supermatch took place on the 24th and 25th of June during the Global Leadership Exchange, and brought together peers, carers, policymakers, researchers, and clinicians from 11 countries around the world. We discussed policies, programs and examples that promote mental health for all and had a deep dive into neighbourhood mental health initiatives as well as in schools and workplaces in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Working to enhance mental health in the general population is increasingly necessary. It's in essence a broad subject. We exchanged a lot and collectively arrived at a set of topics important to take forward beyond the Global Leadership Exchange within population mental health. A working document to set a shared language of what we mean by population mental health is in the works for the end of 2024, and follow-up meetings in person and online have already been planned among the submatches on work and school mental health. Watch this space! Thanks to Trimbos-instituut and #PHAC for the organisation of this supermatch.

🔎 Did you know that youth aged 11-24 often face an average of three or more mental health diagnoses at once? These overlapping conditions can deeply affect their emotional, physical, and social well-being, and lead to long-term consequences. Yet, despite the urgent need for targeted interventions, many young people are overlooked in research and innovation efforts. The CALM study, part of OBI’s Integrated Discovery Programs, is bridging this gap head-on. By focusing on early detection and the development of precision interventions, CALM aims to reshape mental health care for youth with multiple conditions. Grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), CALM’s approach is designed to improve the quality of life for young people as they transition from adolescence into adulthood. Although CALM is one of OBI's newest initiatives, it has already made significant strides. This past May, the CALM Summit brought together youth partners, clinicians, researchers, and community organizations to collaborate on new solutions. As Aidan Mohamed, a member of the Youth Advisory Group at CALM, shared: "The summit was an incredible experience — for the first time, I felt like part of the research team, not just a patient." This #WorldMentalHealthDay we are announcing an initial investment of £27 million to support mental health research teams in 9 regions across England. The investment will: 🙋 give more people the opportunity to take part in mental health research, improving diversity in mental health studies 💚 in turn this will lead to better treatments 🤝 and support for people who need them most The new funding is part of a pipeline that aims to establish up to 10 Mental Health Research Groups (MHRGs) in areas of the country where there is currently very little mental health research taking place. The first 2 new MHRGs will be based at University of Bath and University of Hull. Baroness Merron, Minister for Mental Health, Department of Health and Social Care said: "Mental illness is one of the biggest challenges we face, but most research into these conditions hasn't reflected the breadth of experiences faced by different communities in different parts of the UK. "There's no 'one-size-fits-all' solution to mental health, so it's really important that health leaders in Yorkshire and elsewhere have the evidence they need, based on research, to provide the most effective care. "We're committed to giving mental health the focus it deserves, and this funding is a huge step forward for mental health research right across the country.” Find out more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eux6CF33 Lucy Chappell

This was going to be my introduction video at last year’s event addressing Burnout and highlighting the people at the cornerstone of care. However, the theme around the event has changed to an awards program and a 3-day mental health conference/interactive convention. I made this pivot because I felt like we had been getting away from the core mission of the Freedom Project ™ We had 8 major events the past 7 years and each one felt like a big party to raise awareness about mental health but that’s it! None of my bills get traction and people forget that we exist after showing up to our events. This past 3 months validated this pivot as I hired Brad Hill to join me and the same questions came up again, “Is this possible?” “Are you guys for real?” Well, come find out for yourself as this will be my ninth event is Kansas City. Come and learn about: 1. How we plan to drive education reform, touching the lives of 1.4 million students across 800 school districts in Kansas and Missouri 2. Update the 1986 One Percent for Arts Program to combat violence directly, enriching our communities and fostering development. 3. Through the foorum Nexus, we plan to change the violence problem and narrative. 4. Extending our mental health education curriculum and bill nationally 5. Lastly, as I mention in this video below, helping clinicians deal with Burnout, feel valued and supported. This is an opportunity for you, me, us, to be part of something special starting here in our amazing City and you can attend from May 5th - 7th: Where every ticket purchase was designed to raise awareness for the National crisis line - “988” The first 200 ticket sales will be invited to foorum Awards on May 4th so go now and take action with us. Our 7-year journey to make a difference created with you in mind. #Jointhefoorum #foorumnexus #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness

Did you know that if you picked two people at random in the U.S., there’s an over 60% chance they’d be from different racial or ethnic group? Given that the majority of psychologists are white, it’s likely that clinical therapists will treat someone from a different race or ethnicity than how they identify. This makes understanding the role race plays in therapeutic relationships a critical aspect of the profession. Approved by the APA to sponsor continuing education for psychologists, RL’s Resilience Institute offers training for practicing therapists, by practicing therapists. Recently, we partnered with @Welltrack Connect to offer a CE course on Race and Therapy. Dr. Anica Camela Mulzac shared with ~200 attendees the impact of race on the therapeutic alliance between clients and therapists, how attempts to be “colorblind” can undermine treatment efficacy, and ways psychologists can combat racial microaggressions and implicit bias in their clinical practice.
